Data Sciences & Operations

Mohammed Alyakoob has a paper forthcoming in Management Science titled, “Market Design Choices, Racial Discrimination, and Equitable Micro-Entrepreneurship in Digital Marketplaces.”

Andrew Daw’s paper titled, “An Ephemerally Self-Exciting Point Process,” was recently selected for the “Epidemiological Models” collection of the Applied Probability Trust; the collection was curated by an area expert and appeared in the Journal of Applied Probability and on Cambridge University Press.

Vishal Gupta received the Research Collaboration Excellence Award during the 12th Annual Global Supply Chain Management Summit hosted by the USC Marshall Randall R. Kendrick Global Supply Chain Institute.

Adel Javanmard, Gourab Mukherjee, and Rashmi Ranjan Bhuyan, PhD has a paper forthcoming in the Journal of Machine Learning Research titled, “Structured Dynamic Pricing: Optimal Regret in a Global Shrinkage Model.”

Mladen Kolar has a paper forthcoming in the Journal of the American Statistical Association titled, “Statistical Inference for Networks of High-Dimensional Point Processes.”

Ann Majchrzak’s paper “Hyperloop transportation technologies: practices for open organizing across VUCA contexts” won the Organizational Design Community (ODC)-Accenture Annual Prize for Best Practice-oriented Paper in Journal of Organization Design.

Gourab Mukherjee has a paper forthcoming in the Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics titled, “Bootstrapped Edge Count Tests for Nonparametric Two-Sample Inference Under Heterogeneity.”

Matteo Sesia has a paper forthcoming in the Journal of Machine Learning Research titled,“Random Measure Priors in Bayesian Recovery from Sketches.”

Finance & Business Economics

Kristy Jansen received the ICPM Research Award from the International Centre for Pension Management for her paper on “Pension Liquidity Risk.” She also has another award-winning paper, “Long-term Investors, Demand Shifts, and Yields,” recently accepted for publication in the Review of Financial Studies.

Wenhao Li has a paper forthcoming in the Journal of Political Economy titled, “Dissecting Mechanisms of Financial Crises: Intermediation and Sentiment.”

Emily Nix was appointed Associate Editor at the Journal of Labor Economics. She also has a paper forthcoming in the Quarterly Journal of Economics, titled “The Dynamics of Abusive Relationships.”

Andrii Parkhomenko was awarded two grants, including the Lusk Research Award and from the California Department of Transportation for a new project, “Quantifying Public Transit Improvements: A Multimodal Evaluation of Recent Improvements to Los Angeles Rail Infrastructure.” He also had a paper published in the Journal of Development Economics, titled “Faster, Taller, Better: Transit Improvements and Land Use Policies.”

Anthony M. Marino has two papers forthcoming: “Self Directed Productivity Investment on the Job” will appear in Managerial and Decision Economics and “Reputational Damage and Reassignment Pay” will appear in the Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics.

Alejandro Martínez-Marquina’s paper, “The Opportunity Cost of Debt Aversion,” was published in the American Economic Review.

Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies

Audra Quinn received the 2024 Heizer Award for Outstanding Research in the Field of New Enterprise Development at this year’s Academy of Management annual meeting.

Hovig Tchalian received the 2024 Organization and Management division’s Above and Beyond the Call of Duty (ABCD) Award at this year’s Academy of Management annual meeting.

Dan Wadhwani received the 2024 Richard M. Hodgetts Award for scholars who have made substantive contributions to scholarship, teaching, and service in the field of management history at this year’s Academy of Management annual meeting.

Management & Organization

Zachariah Berry had a paper published in Organization Science titled, “When Your Friend is My Friend: How Loyalty Prompts Support for Indirect Ties in Moral Dilemmas.”

John Eklund and Joe Raffiee each received an Outstanding Reviewer Award from Organization Science.

Cheryl J. Wakslak had a paper published in Social and Personality Psychology Compass titled, “Who handles the tough talk? Supervisor sense of power and confronting difficult issues.”

Marketing

Luca Cascio Rizzo received the Rising Star Award from the American Marketing Association.

Sha Yang had a paper published in the Journal of Marketing titled, “Within-Category Satiation and Cross-Category Spillover in Multiproduct Advertising.”
