Undergraduate Accounting Program
USC Leventhal provides you with the tools and resources you need to succeed. Our program is recognized for the immersive experience it offers accounting students. Graduates leave the program not only as qualified accountants, but as well-rounded professionals. Our students enter careers in accounting, finance, data analytics and more. Leventhal resides within the Marshall School of Business, which provides our students opportunities to interact with the top-notch faculty at Marshall.
Commitment
We are committed to creating knowledge and disseminating it through leading academic and professional journals and symposia. Our students have the capability and motivation to succeed in a rigorous educational environment at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral program levels.
Quality
Quality of our people makes the Leventhal School of Accounting an innovator in the areas of accounting, education, and critical research. Our faculty have designed educational programs structured to develop in each graduate the potential for career advancement into the highest levels of professional accounting and management. Our excellent staff is dedicated to supporting our mission with timeliness, quality, and personal assistance to everyone in Leventhal.
Location
Leventhal provides a state-of-the-art education in a vibrant urban setting, close ties with the big four accounting firms (EY, Deloitte, KPMG and PWC) and business communities, a Pacific Rim location that helps us maintain an international focus, and a long-standing tradition of excellence in accounting.
Career Resources
USC Leventhal is committed to providing our students with opportunities to interact and explore employment opportunities. Students are able to take advantage of a full range of services including one-on-one career advising, career workshops and interview coaching to help pursue the recruiting process with confidence. Students utilize resources through Leventhal, Marshall and the USC Career Center to secure internships, full-time positions and/or admission to graduate school. Our students are also provided with many opportunities to network with firms and alumni and develop the skills needed to succeed in accounting, finance or consulting positions.
Recruitment Opportunities
Each semester the Big Four and mid-tier accounting firms, as well as several other companies, come to campus for a networking event called Meet the Firms. Recruiters from each of these firms bring around 20 staff members (usually alumni), giving students the opportunity to ask questions and learn about what it's really like to work in accounting. This evening event takes place at the California Science Center, and the required attire is business professional.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
All undergraduates meet with academic advisers to develop a course plan individualized to their needs. The plan can include a double major in business or another area, adding a minor, or taking advantage of our Progressive Master’s Degree program, which offers simplified early admission to our MAcc or MBT program, students earn two degrees in five years or fewer.
Our flexible curriculum develops technical proficiency, analytical- and critical-thinking skills, and oral and written communication skills. Ethical principles and group work modeled after the real-world business environment are also important components.
While international study trips are available through Marshall and Leventhal, we also emphasize global business practices in the classroom. For example, one of our courses offers a challenging and exciting group project with students at a Chinese university via Skype, providing first hand insight into working in a global environment.
USC Leventhal has a student-focused culture, with numerous opportunities to engage with faculty; develop teamwork, networking and leadership skills; serve the community; and meet professionals from accounting firms and businesses through events and student organizations.
PROGRESSIVE DEGREE

Accounting Minor
A minor in accounting is available to students in all schools and departments except the Marshall School of Business. The minor provides the opportunity for non-business majors to gain an understanding, from the perspective of the user of accounting information, of how accounting is used in the business world.
RISK MANAGEMENT MINOR
The minor in Risk Management provides students with the fundamental knowledge of risk management - a crucial component of contemporary management, corporate governance and decision making under uncertain conditions.
ACCOUNTING FOR GOOD
“Sustainability doesn’t stop at the environment and climate change. It also means providing fair wages, housing, and safe conditions for communities where these businesses are based. This is why we teach these concepts to our students. It’s important they understand how sustainability factors into business leadership.”
— Smrity Randhawa, Assistant Dean Leventhal Undergraduate Programs and Associate Professor of Clinical Accounting
WHY ESG IS
SO IMPORTANT
The Role of the Profession: Accounting for Good by William Holder
"Accounting may not have the most obvious path toward bringing justice to the world, saving the planet, housing the homeless or feeding the hungry, but as one exceptionally gifted accounting thinker has observed, accountants can contribute meaningfully to the diminution of the world’s maladies."
— William Holder, Dean of the Leventhal School of Accounting
Curriculum: Business, Society, and Sustainability
“Students get it. They understand they’ll be the ones making decisions and know the impact they can have if they are aware of the issues.”
— Greys Sošić, Data Sciences and Operations Department Chair and E. Morgan Stanley Chair in Business Administration
Setting the Sustainability Reporting Standards Investors Demand
“There is a whole ecosystem evolving to support preparers and users of sustainability reports…These roles are in high demand and require new skills and so should present valuable career opportunities for our students.”
— Richard Sloan, Deloitte and Touche LLP Chair in Accounting and Professor of Accounting, Finance, and Business Economics

The Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA) USC Chapter’s goal is to empower and help develop underrepresented students as leaders in all majors. By connecting students with professionals in several different settings, we hope to provide growth opportunities directly applicable to their future careers. We seek to be the bridge between students and professionals, while preemptively educating students on common misconceptions about entering the workforce. Additionally, our chapter prides itself on its culture of togetherness and networking, which we call “ALPFAmilia”. In combination with ALPFA USC’s familial culture and practices, ALPFA is focused on empowering students of all backgrounds through the various opportunities offered with professional development workshops and professional events.
The mission of our Iota Chapter Beta Alpha Psi, the premier international honor and service organization for financial and business information students and professionals, is to inspire and support excellence.
