The Master of Accounting program (MAcc) prepares graduates for careers in public accounting, industry, consulting, financial services, and government. The program offers students technical and conceptual knowledge, professional development, research and lifelong learning, ethical and professional standards and globalization and diversity.

Career Preparation
USC Leventhal is committed to providing our students with opportunities to interact and explore employment opportunities. Students are able to take advantage of a full range of services including one-on-one career advising, career workshops and interview coaching to help pursue the recruiting process with confidence.
Global Education
Students are given the opportunity to explore accounting and business practices with a global perspective. This is open to all full-time MAcc and MBT students and includes an 8-day trip over Spring Break to visit companies and meet high level business executives.
STEM Certification
As of Fall 2020, Leventhal’s MAcc Program is STEM certified.
The STEM MAcc is focused on preparing students to fulfill the increasing need to apply quantitative and scientific methods to business challenges. Additionally, international graduates are able to apply to extend their 12 month OPT by an additional 24 months, potentially expanding their employment opportunities within the U.S.

Student Learning Outcomes
Technical, Conceptual, Problem-Solving Requirement
Students will be competent in and be able to apply discipline-specific knowledge and skills in the fields of accounting or taxation. This learning outcome includes the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as an understanding of the strategic role of accounting in business organizations and society.
Professional Development Requirement
Students will be able to communicate clearly, and strategically, after considering the relevant audience, situation, and purpose of the communication. Students will develop the ability to work productively with others to accomplish established goals.
Research/Life-Long Learning Requirement
Students will be able to use relevant research databases and academic/professional literature to gain new knowledge and analyze business situations.
Ethical Principles and Professional Standards Requirement
Students will be able to apply ethical principles and professional standards in analyzing situations and making informed decisions.
Globalization Requirement
Students will be able to demonstrate an international perspective and appreciation for diversity and cultural differences, along with their significance in global business.
Program Structure
Complete in 2 or 3 semesters depending on undergraduate degree and/or prior coursework. Total of 30-45 units.
Summer Students without an accounting degree or equivalent coursework begin the program with the Summer Intensive Program prior to the fall semesterFall/Spring All students admitted to the program

Summer Intensive
This 15 unit 8-week summer course is designed for incoming Master of Accounting and Master of Business Taxation students with limited accounting backgrounds. The program is designed as a critical foundation to prepare these students for success in the classroom and employment recruiting during the full-time academic year. Students need an undergraduate degree and as few as three specific accounting and business courses prior to beginning Summer Intensive.
Students in the Summer Intensive Program come from a wide variety of educational backgrounds. Some students have just graduated and others have been out for 3+ years.
We understand that the program is challenging so our Faculty and Instructional Assistants provide extensive support throughout the summer. The Instructional Assistants, all recent graduates from our program and many having completed Summer Intensive in the prior year, lead review sessions and provide assistance during homework and study time.
Prerequisites: Introductory Accounting, Economics - Micro or Macro, Statistics
Summer Intensive Curriculum: Intermediate Accounting, Introduction to Audit & Assurance, Introduction to Taxation, Advanced Accounting
Professional Development
Throughout the Summer Intensive students will participate in professional development workshops designed to expand skills in business communication, writing and presentations.
While the summer study schedule is quite intense, we encourage our students to create balance during this time. The Program Office plans several events to encourage students to relax and take a break from their studies.

Domestic Applicants: Deadline for Summer Start - March 31Deadline for Fall Start - April 15International Applicants: Final Deadline - January 15** We will continue to accept and review applications after the deadline on a space-available basis. Please keep deadlines in mind when scheduling your tests (GMAT, TOEFL, etc.) or mailing transcripts as it often takes some time for these items to reach our office. We highly recommend attaching official transcripts to your application before submitting in order to speed the review process.
