A Message From the Director
The MSEI Program presents an integrative perspective into the process of starting a new business entity or starting a major new endeavor within an existing corporation. Whether you already have an idea and are eager to start your own business, or if you are in the discovery phase seeking to find a new idea, or if you simply want to learn more about what an entrepreneurial or corporate entrepreneurial career would be like, the MSEI Program exposes you to the challenges and endless opportunities of entrepreneurship.
As a MSEI student, you will learn that the structure of starting and growing a new venture is an all-encompassing format for understanding an entrepreneurial career. It touches all the relevant issues — but there is more to entrepreneurship than passion, desire and perseverance. Entrepreneurs have a unique mindset, a way of looking at things that are opportunity-focused and creative. It’s about passion–doing what you love.
It’s about creating value. It’s about independence and responsibility. In addition, it’s about challenge, risk management, persistence, and the ability to innovate–to improve on the old or invent the new. It is our hope the MSEI Program will foster the entrepreneurial mindset within you-whether you start your own venture today or tomorrow, or you become a catalyst within an existing business fostering new innovations.
USC’s location in the heart of southern California offers students endless opportunities to connect with Silicon Beach, Silicon Valley and with southern California’s vibrant and diverse economy and with all that USC offers while pursuing a MSEI degree.
