WBB ADVICE + INSIGHT
Current students and alumni offer insights into a four-year international experience that is unlike any other undergraduate business education.
"In WBB, it doesn't matter where you come from or what your background is."
I was born and raised in a small town of 30,000 people called Vittorio Veneto, which is in the countryside of Northeast Italy. Up until I was 16 years old, I hadn’t gotten to see the world outside my small town. In fact, until I was 16, I had never taken a flight in my life. Despite that, I loved reading and learning a lot, which is one thing that people in WBB have in common — an interest in learning about things we don’t know about.
For the people who don’t think that they belong to WBB — but feel that they could belong if they had a different experience growing up — I want to tell them: if you think that you can do it, you belong.
— Andrea Abriani
“WBB has made me realize that I can’t stand the idea of living in a bubble."
I don’t want to live my entire life in the same place, surrounded by the same people. This past summer, I was interning in Bangkok and I decided to live in a hostel. Seeing the beautiful, historic sites of Thailand was incredible, but throughout the two months, the hostel had become the most memorable part by far.
"In WBB, being surrounded by people with experiences just like mine, but from completely different cultures, has brought me closer to my roots."
After I graduate from WBB, I’m going to show my family all the things I lived through. If everything goes according to the plan, we will go on a family trip and spend a month each in LA, Hong Kong, and Milan. This will be my way of giving back to my parents; I want to show them what all of their hard work has materialized into.
“I think WBB widened my worldview more than anything...being part of the program made me further challenge my views and opinions on the world."
It also made me extremely resilient and independent. To put it simply, my world became bigger; before WBB I thought I had to choose between living in London or going home to Ukraine, but after WBB I understood that I could choose to build my career absolutely anywhere in the world.
“If I had to describe WBB in one word, it would be “growth.”
Today, I look in the mirror and see “growth” in the form of every place that I have visited, every activity that I have completed, and every person that I have met because of WBB. For that, WBB is so much more than the frequently advertised “unparalleled experience;” it is a mode through which anyone can become the best version of themselves and grow like no other.
"My advice is don’t try and make the new place like home; try and find a home in the new place.”
I was just dreaming about Hong Kong. And it’s crazy because we’re here now. What’s really interesting is that Hong Kong is a brand new place, yet this city makes me feel like I belong.
