Data Sciences & Operations

Yingying Fan was invited to deliver a distinguished lecture at the 2024 Symposium on Statistics and Risk Management, which will be held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in December.

Lorena Martin was an invited speaker to the Avance at L’ATTITUDE conference, including moderating the Latina Athlete Panel and serving as a panelist at the International Business of Sports session.

Gourab Mukherjee has a paper accepted for publication in the Journal of the American Statistical Association titled, “Using Penalized Synthetic Controls on Truncated Data: A Case Study on Effect of Marijuana Legalization on Direct Payments to Physicians by Opioid Manufacturers.”

Finance and Business Economics

Kristy Jansen received a $97,000 grant from the Office of Financial Research, an NBER research initiative on Market Frictions and Financial Risks, for her project titled, “Pension Fund Investments and Liquidity.”

Rodney Ramcharan has a paper accepted for publication in the Review of Financial Studies titled, “Macroprudential Regulation, Quantitative Easing, and Bank Lending.”

Leventhal School of Accounting

Ruben Davila was named chair of the 2024–2025 CalCPA Education Foundation Board of Trustees for the California Society of CPAs. 

Michael Paranal was awarded the 2024–2025 Young Leader Award by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs and the US Embassy for his leadership in finance, law, and education.

Marketing

Kristin Diehl gave the presidential address at the Association of Consumer Research conference in Paris.

Nofar Duani had a paper published in the Journal of the Association for Consumer Research (Vol. 9/No. 3) titled, “Demographic Pricing in the Digital Age: Assessing Fairness Perceptions in Algorithmic Versus Human-Based Price Discrimination.”

Stephanie Tully received an Outstanding Review Award from the Journal of Consumer Research.
