The Graduate Certificate in Risk Management requires 12 total units for completion; this includes 9 units of elective AND 3 units of required coursework as follows:

Yes, only current USC students may apply for admission to the Graduate Certificate program. ‘Current USC students’ are defined as currently enrolled in a Masters or Doctoral degree at USC.

The Graduate Certificate in Risk Management is 12 units in total. Students can expect to complete the program within a timeline of one to four semesters, depending on the students’ desired pace. Most students studying full-time will complete the program within one to two semesters.

However, students should note that the Graduate Certificate MUST be completed during or prior to the semester in which they graduate from their primary graduate program at USC.

The USC Peter Arkley Institute for Risk Management provides career development and placement services to students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate. Each semester, the Arkley Institute hosts a recruiting and networking event, Meet the Risk Management Professionals. Typically, 30 to 40 organizations participate to recruit and network with USC students.

The Arkley Institute also offers a mentorship program to students pursuing the Graduate Certificate. Any student pursuing a Graduate Certificate can be paired with a mentor from the risk management industry. This program includes creating an individual development plan under the mentor’s supervision and a job shadow day at the mentor’s firm.

The Arkley Institute also offers a variety of professional development opportunities, such as panel discussions and multiple Speaker Series with thought leaders in the risk management industry.
