Professor of Marketing LAN LUO received the prestigious Jagdish N. Sheth Award for her extensive work in marketing science and her exemplary research, which uncovered how consumer-uploaded images can impact market demand. The award is named for Dr. Jagdish N. Sheth, a celebrated educator and marketing expert with years of experience in relationship marketing, consumer behavior, competitive strategy, and more.
Luo’s innovative research into marketing science earned her recognition for this award, as did her innovative work at Amazon leading the marketing analytics teams for Prime Video. Over two years, she advised the corporation on how to allocate its marketing dollars most effectively. Eventually, her responsibilities expanded to include leading the Amazon Studios Science team. In this position, she oversaw ideation, development, and investment of creative products developed by Amazon Studios.
The professor’s accomplishments don’t stop there. She also serves as Vice President of Practice for the INFORMS Society of Marketing Science and works as editor-in-chief of the peer-reviewed journal, Marketing Science. As a Marshall faculty member, Luo also conducts research into the impact of artificial intelligence, consumer tendencies, blockchain technology, and even the trajectories of celebrity brands.
Luo made another piece of history with the Sheth Award by becoming the first woman to ever win the honor. Though working in the largely male-dominated space of quantitative sciences, Luo has earned the acclaim of her colleagues and other seasoned researchers. She will continue to strive to innovate and lead in the sphere of marketing science.
