The USC Marshall Department of Finance and Business Economics (FBE) Staff assists students, faculty and other staff in supporting teaching, research and campus life. FBE offers courses for USC undergraduate business majors and minors, MBA programs, specialized masters programs, and the Ph.D. program. It is located in Hoffman Hall, room 231. Phone: 213-740-6515.

Helen Pitts

Ms. Helen Pitts provides leadership and oversight for our many departmental initiatives. She oversees a diverse portfolio of projects and the day to day operational aspects of the FBE Department. Helen provides guidance to faculty, students and staff. She works cooperatively with other Directors and Managers to ensure smooth operation of the FBE Department’s initiatives.

Deborah Jacobs-Cantrell

Mrs. Deborah Jacobs-Cantrell provides numerous services to faculty and students. She processes Grade Change Requests, travel and non-travel reimbursements for faculty recruiting, seminars, and conferences, and reimbursements for FBE Ph.D. candidates. Deborah hires and approves student workers and TAs and approves student worker timesheets within the FBE Department.

Ms. Terry Lichvar performs a wide scope of duties for both professors and students. She manages all FBE seminars, workshops, and conferences. Contact person for academic visitors. Schedules tenure track faculty recruiting. Facilitates FBE student club events. Handles technology-related problems for FBE faculty and staff. Purchases departmental supplies and services and reconciles accounts. Contact person for the CFA® Review Program.

Ms. Elena Martinez assists faculty with financial transactions. Handles reimbursements for professors who generate travel and non-travel related expenses for such activities as trips to professional academic conventions like the American Economic Association and the American Finance Association. Purchases supplies and equipment for faculty. Processes independent contractors. Monitors and analyzes accounts activity to reconcile university financial records.
