Patricia Mills specializes in partnership, real estate, and individual tax issues, she has contributed to the treatises Powell on Real Property and California Real Estate Law and Practice, and has published articles in the California Real Estate Journal, The Journal of Real Estate Taxation, and the Tax Lawyer. Prior to joining USC Marshall, she spent 20 years in private practice. She has served on the Research Institute of America's Customer Support Advisory Board. Professor Mills is a frequent speaker on tax topics, including at NYU's Federal Tax Institute and USC's Institute on Federal Taxation.
Phil Griego

Philip Griego

Assistant Dean

Phil Griego is the assistant dean for Marshall’s in-house team of instructional designers and video production professionals who work with faculty to create Marshall’s online courses. He also serves as program director of the Online MBA, which includes overseeing admissions, advising, and general program management. Over the course of his 20 years at Marshall, he has served in various roles, including Director of Academic & Technology Administration, Director of IT User Support, and interim Chief Technology Officer. Before joining USC, Phil was with the Walt Disney Company for 13 years, which included various leadership positions at the Disneyland Resort. His professional background includes academic administration, information technology, service operations management, and human resource management. He has a BS in business administration from Cal State Long Beach and an MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business

Lanore Larson

Lanore Larson

Educational Program Designer

Lanore Larson is the Educational Program Designer at the Marshall School. She contributes to the restructuring of core courses and the professional development of the business program faculty. She ensures that course components advance student development of the skills and knowledge outlined in the Marshall School Undergraduate Learning Goals and USC Critical Thinking Framework. She serves on the Undergraduate Program Committee, the USC Center of Excellence in Teaching Advisory Board and the USC BlackBoard Advisory Committee. Prior to joining USC, Lanore served as adjunct faculty at Loyola Marymount University’s Graduate School of Education. Lanore holds both an MBA and a Master’s in Education from USC.

Beth Wellman

Beth Wellman

Senior Educational Program Designer

Beth Wellman joined Marshall in 2014 as the first instructional designer on its growing online team. Beth is passionate about creating optimal online learning environments, and is convinced that online education, done right, will be the future of higher education. She holds a Ed.D. in Educational Psychology, Learning and Instruction. Prior to joining Marshall, she taught at USC Rossier School of Education, in both its online and on-campus classes. The opportunity enabled her to study student outcomes from both programs, and proved to her that online education can provide as good as—if not better than—its traditional in-classroom learning outcomes. Before joining academia, she enjoyed a long career as a classroom teacher in STEM subjects, where she was an early and enthusiastic proponent of using technology to improve student learning. She is currently the co-chair for Curriculum on USC’s Online Learning Council, along with her colleague Miriam Burgos.

David Melone

David Melone

Associate Director, Instructional Design

David Melone is the Associate Director for Instructional Design at the Marshall School. He joined Marshall in 2018, after 17 years developing and managing the online programming at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM). While web design was an early hobby of his, the potential of delivering high-quality education via technology always intrigued him. He has a master’s degree in education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with an emphasis on curriculum, technology, and education reform. His professional focus has been on not just developing online courses and programs, but maintaining them at scale and empowering faculty to continue to grow and develop their content. He lives in Pasadena with his wife, a dog, and a cat.

Phil Cole

Philip Cole

Instructional Designer

Philip Cole is the lead instructional designer for the Master of Business Taxation (MBT) program. He has been with the online learning team since 2017 and has nearly 15 years of experience designing and developing corporate training programs, which has proven to be an invaluable skillset for our online faculty members. In addition, Phil has demonstrated knowledge as an instructional technologist with proficiency in multiple online platforms and tools. He earned a BA in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has worked as instructional designer for companies like Dell, Intuit, and 3M. Phil is the father of three young children, and his wife Chelsea is a faculty member at the USC Department of Otolaryngology.

Jodi Sebban

Jodi Sebban

Instructional Designer

Jodi Sebban is an Instructional Designer and supports faculty in the hybrid MBA Professionals & Managers (MBA.PM) program. She is passionate about creating meaningful, inclusive learning experiences and strengthening instructor presence in online environments. Jodi received her Master of Science degree in Instructional Design and Technology from California State University, Fullerton. Before joining the Marshall Online Learning team in 2019, she worked in Career Services at ArtCenter College of Design, designing hands-on programs, interactive events, training sessions, and learning materials that supported students and alumni in obtaining employment with Fortune 500 companies. Jodi attended USC's School of Cinematic Arts for her undergraduate education and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing for Screen and Television.

Davia Shubbie

Davia Shubbie

Instructional Designer

Davia Shubbie has always been passionate about empowering learners. For more than a decade, Davia has designed fun and innovative instruction for learners through recreation and traditional learning environments spanning from primary education to now higher ed. She holds a BS in Recreation Administration from California State University, Fresno. Then joined the Trojan family in 2019 when she earned her Master of Education degree in Learning Design and Technology from USC's Rossier School of Education where she focused on equity in online learning, performance assessment, and the management of educational programs. While obtaining this degree, Davia joined the online learning team at Marshall as a graduate student worker in 2018 and is now officially a part of the team supporting various programs and initiatives.

Jerrry Whitfield

Jerry Whitfield

Associate Director of Online Learning

Jerry Whitfield has more than 35 years of experience in radio, television and film. A native Californian, he earned his undergraduate degree in TV/Radio Communications while working as a Jungle Cruise guide at Disneyland, and moonlighted as an air personality at Q96 FM in Twenty-nine Palms, CA. A few years later, while still at Disney, he worked as a freelance camera operator and video editor for Planet Hollywood, Disney Broadcast Services, ABC Television/ESPN, and Sony Television. He joined USC as the head of audio/visual for the school’s Auxiliary Services group before joining the Marshall School. Jerry also graduated with an MFA from the USC School of Cinematic Arts Graduate Screenwriting Program. A short film he wrote, “Hope’s Choice,” won several awards and was featured on Showtime. He is married and has a 12-year-old daughter who is currently a Level 9 gymnast.

Keim Clark

Keim Clark

Digital Media Producer

Keim Clark is a digital media producer on Marshall’s online learning team. He is a Miami native, earning his Bachelor’s degree in journalism and broadcast media with a focus in television and film production from Florida International University. He has 15 years of experience working on video projects, utilizing creativity and originality, from conceptualization to final product, with an extensive background in news, television and film. He has produced and edited newscasts for award-winning investigative reporting and special reports. He has also produced marketing and promotional videos for companies like Bacardi, Nike and Yahoo! Since joining USC in 2012, he has become an integral member of online learning team, and has developed innovative ways to contribute to online programs.

“I’m proud to be part of an award winning production team that creates, implements, and transforms content to meet online needs, as well share in the success of highly recognized online programs,” he said.

Nicholas Fortunato

Nicholas Fortunato

Digital Media Producer

Nick Fortunato is a digital media producer for the online team at the Marshall School. He is the “New Kid” on the production team—his first day at Marshall coincided with the first day of quarantine—which meant he was thrown into the deep end to sink or swim. And he’s still swimming. He previously worked 11 years at the Walt Disney Company. He graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a BA in cinema and television arts. “I love my job,” he says, “because it’s creative and meaningful. I have a wonderful team that is insightful and supportive.”

Adrian Garcia

Adrian Garcia

Digital Media Producer

Adrian Garcia is a digital media producer on Marshall's Online Learning team. Previous to joining Marshall in 2013, he worked at The Walt Disney Company, where he produced the “CAST TV” segments for internal communications. With his team, he interviewed a range of Disneyland Resort workers, from cast members to horticulturists to Disney Legends, along with executives and celebrities, and produced two 30-minute segments weekly. It was an incredible job for a kid who’d started out as a ride operator at Disneyland. He also has experience working with network TV as producer and a cameraman for LIVE events and sports. While he has a BA from the Arts Institute in interactive media and web design, “I learned video on my own." His ability to tell a story is crucial to his role in producing the Online Learning materials. “It’s never just a talking head,” he says. “We make it compelling to watch.” Interactivity is coming next, he says. An Orange County local, he grew up loving Disney and the Trojans.

David Moore

David Moore

Distance Education Operations Supervisor

David Moore grew up in Seattle, spent six years in Chicago and is now working and living in the East Los Angeles neighborhood of Eagle Rock. He has worked in film, television, corporate and educational video since his college days. He received his BA with honors from the Film School at Columbia College in Chicago, Illinois. He has won numerous awards while working in video production, including two Emmy Awards, an Ace Award, a Telly Award and two Communicator Awards. For the Online Learning Team he manages the video production studio, a team of video production student workers and administers closed captions for all of Marshall’s videos. He’s happily married to the professor and photographer Audrey Mandelbaum and is the proud father to high school soccer player Avi Moore.
