The on-campus programs offered by USC Marshall have received many accolades, ranking among the top 20 best Part-time MBA programs in the country according to U.S. News and World Report, and the top 10 Executive MBA programs according to Bloomberg Businessweek. Building on this heritage, the USC Online MBA program has been carefully designed by faculty members and instructional technology experts, combining the best elements of the on-campus programs with a variety of new elements built specifically for the online experience.
Most of the assignments and learning exercises can be completed at the student’s convenience. The program is designed to develop management and leadership skills essential for professionals in a variety of careers, from those who are rising stars in multinational corporations to those who seek to be entrepreneurs.
In addition to these independent assignments, collaborative exercises like team-based activities, group discussions, and faculty-led, live sessions via webcam are a critical part of every course. Each week, students have the opportunity to interact directly with classmates and faculty to examine learning materials and participate in active discussions. Through these live exercises, the online format enhances the program’s emphasis on efficient, effective teaching. Students have numerous opportunities to expand their network while gaining practical, hands-on expertise in leading virtual and remote teams – an essential skill for next-generation business leaders.
There are many opportunities for online students to enrich their graduate education. Guest lectures from business leaders are available live online, allowing students to engage in vibrant discussions from anywhere. Current and former CEOs, marketing experts and executives have visited both our online and campus classrooms to discuss vital concepts in leadership, strategy, corporate ethics and international business.
After completing the six courses required for the Online MBA, students may choose to extend their studies. In addition to Marshall’s rich array of on-campus MBA electives and certificate programs, an alumnus may enroll in an online elective with topics such as project management, entrepreneurship, Lean Six Sigma, and virtual communication or apply to the online Graduate Certificate in Optimization & Supply Chain Management program.
Although traveling abroad is not a required part of the Online MBA program, students can enroll in overseas electives that include trips to Singapore or Dubai with their on-campus peers. During these trips, participants take advantage of USC Marshall’s international partnerships to see first-hand how business is conducted in another country, visiting companies and meeting with executives.
For all electives, including overseas trips, enrollment is limited. Class sizes and bidding affect whether a student can join.
Online students also have access to the support of our faculty and staff as well as the USC Marshall alumni network, which has more than 88,000 members. The online format also empowers students to pursue intensive, comprehensive business education from anywhere as it suits their busy lives.
In short, online learning brings the exceptional USC Marshall MBA experience to students around the world, further extending the reach of the growing Trojan family.
