Kobe Bryant - Basketball Icon and Entrepreneur

Kobe Bryant

The USC Performance Science Institute at the Marshall School of Business welcomed basketball icon, Kobe Bryant. Mr. Bryant played his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning five NBA championships. He was a perennial All Star (18 seasons), All-NBA Team (15 seasons), All-Defensive team (12 seasons), and led the league in scoring twice. He won Olympic Gold in 2008 and 2012. In 2018, he won an Oscar for Best Animated Short for "Dear Basketball."

 

Alex Honnold - Free Solo Rock Climber

The USC Performance Science Institute hosted Alex Honnold, acclaimed free solo rock climber known for his ability to perform at the limits of human capability and imagination. Alex recently climbed the sheer face of Yosemite's El Capitán without the use of ropes or safety equipment. His ascent is the subject of an upcoming film by National Geographic.

 

Arianna Huffington - Founder of Thrive Global

The USC Marshall School of Business, USC Performance Science Institute, and Athena welcomed entrepreneur, author, and wellness champion, Arianna Huffington. She is the founder of The Huffington Post, the founder and CEO of Thrive Global, and the author of 15 books, including, most recently, Thrive and The Sleep Revolution. In May 2005, she launched The Huffington Post, a news and blog site that became one of the most widely-read, linked to, and frequently-cited media brands on the Internet. In August 2016, she launched Thrive Global, a corporate and consumer well-being and productivity platform with the mission of changing the way we work and live by ending the collective delusion that burnout is the price we must pay for success. Arianna spoke about her new venture Thrive Global, the importance of putting down your smartphone and getting a good night's sleep.

Brene Brown
