What are your areas of interest at USC and Marshall?
Consulting & Entrepreneurship
What made you choose to attend USC Marshall?
Choosing to attend Marshall and the World Bachelor in Business program were easy decisions to make. To me, USC has the perfect people culture for my ideal college experience - plus, the climate in southern California is flawless. I wanted to stay uprooted for college whilst receiving a business education from some of the world's best institutions, and there is none other like WBB.
What advice do you wish you had known while applying to college?
Be a little less harsh on yourself, college admissions officers are human too! When you find yourself thinking, "what would admissions want to read from me?" or are feeling uninspired for your supplemental essays, take a pause, and look inwards :)
What are your USC activities/general hobbies?
USC activities: Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity, Marshall Outreach Volunteer Entrepreneurs, US-China Today, and International Consulting Club.
General hobbies: cooking (and trying new foods), analogue photography, gallery-hopping, music.
Why do you love Los Angeles?
I could go on and on about why I love Los Angeles, ever since I left the city two years ago after my freshman year, I've been missing it! There's never a dull moment in LA, regardless of what your hobbies and interests are. For me, I loved being a train away from a vibrant beach and sunset, trying the endless restaurants in and out of town, going to concerts of my favorite artists, and so much more.
What global experiences have you taken part in at USC? Please list all Marshall International Trips you have attended, include program name(s) and location(s).
The WORLD BACHELOR IN BUSINESS PROGRAM in and of itself is the most unique international experience that one can have as a university student. Now in my third year, I am living in Milan, my third and last continent of the program, having spent my first year in LA and my second in Hong Kong. The many struggles and subsequent knowledge gained through WBB is truly irreplaceable, and I would choose it again.
What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at Marshall?
When I was at USC my first year, I was extremely lucky to have worked at the USC Shoah Foundation, located in Leavey Library. Founded by Steven Spielberg, the Foundation records and brings to light audio/visual interview of genocide survivors all around the world. Personally, I worked with the Dimensions in Testimony department, who has created interactive AI biographies of more than 20 survivors. Utilizing my Mandarin language skills, I primarily worked with the interface of a Nanjing Massacre survivor, maintaining its system in the backend.
What is your favorite USC Marshall Class and why?
WRIT 340: Advanced Writing for Business. To me, that was the most comprehensive and technical skill-based course I took my Freshman year at USC. Not only did I learn from my professor's personal business career, but I also acquired life-long writing techniques that have since helped me become more concise, logical and expressive in my everyday work.
