International Applicants:

Jan 15: Final Deadline.

Document Deadlines:

In order to consider your application complete, we must receive your official test scores, letters of recommendation and official transcripts by the dates listed below.  Any applications left incomplete after these dates are not guaranteed for review.  Please keep these deadlines in mind when scheduling your tests (GMAT, TOEFL, etc.) or mailing transcripts as it often takes some time for these items to reach our office.

Please Note:

  • Our application will open on October 1st of each year. 
  • Applications are reviewed as they are received.  Applicants will receive email notification of an interview invitation or decline decision. 
  • Interested in scholarships?  We encourage students who are interested in being considered for scholarships to apply as early as possible.  Students will be reviewed for scholarships as funds are available. 

Coursework Requirements

Summer Applicants:

The following courses must be completed or in progress at the time of application:

  • Introduction to Financial Accounting
  • Micro or Macroeconomics
  • Statistics

Fall Applicants:

As a fall applicant, the following courses must be completed or in progress at the time of application:

  • Introduction to Financial Accounting
  • Micro or Macroeconomics
  • Statistics
  • Intermediate Accounting I
  • Intermediate Accounting II
  • Cost or Managerial Accounting
  • U.S. Federal or Corporate Taxation

In addition, we prefer and recommend the following courses:

  • Auditing/Assurance*
  • Advanced Accounting*
  • Corporate Finance*

*Extra units may be added to your degree if you don't have these courses.

Pre-requisite courses must be completed at an accredited university for a letter grade.

Official Transcripts

A bachelor's degree equivalent to a 4-year U.S. undergraduate degree from an accredited institution (regardless of field or major) is required prior to enrolling in the graduate programs. As such, applicants are not required to have earned their baccalaureate degree when applying, but must earn their degree prior to enrolling in the program. To expedite the review process, please attach official transcripts to your application.  If you do not have such copies available, please submit your application before mailing your transcripts.

Official transcripts are required for ALL previous college work (undergraduate and graduate). Transcripts from international universities must be submitted in the original language as well as in English.

All applicants to the MAcc and MBT Full-time programs must submit official Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) scores. Test scores are valid for 5 years from the test date; scores more than 5 years old are not accepted. If you take the GMAT multiple times we will consider your highest score for admission purposes.

Domestic applicants who hold or will hold a Bachelor's degree from a U.S. college or university who also have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 are not required to submit a GMAT score.

NOTE: We will not grant an interview until your scores are received. If you resend new scores after submitting your application we may or may not be able to consider them based on the stage of your application review. If you do resend, please contact us at to notify our admissions team.


Personal Statement

Applicants will choose one of three prompts.  These can be found in the application under the "Program Materials" quadrant.

Letters of Recommendation

Two letters of recommendation are required for of your application. References should address your personal qualities, potential to succeed in the profession, and your ability to perform well in the classroom. Choose references who know you in an academic or professional context and who are familiar with your academic achievements, credentials, career aspirations and work history (if applicable). It is preferred (though not required) that one of these letters be from an academic source (professor) that can attest to your ability to successfully complete a rigorous graduate degree program. The other letter may be from a non-academic source (employer) that is familiar with your work history and/or career goals.

All letters of recommendation must be submitted using the online recommendation form found in the online application system. You will find instructions on setting up online recommendations when you start the application process.


Please upload a business resume that includes your educational and professional information. Professional information should consist of employment history starting with your most recent experience. Your resume should not be more than one page in length.


Interviews are by invitation only. Interviews are conducted by the admissions office staff and applicants will be contacted once all materials have been received. An invitation to interview indicates that your application has reached an advanced stage of consideration. Depending on where you are located, you will be asked to complete either an on-campus or an interview via Skype. No one will be admitted without completing an interview.

Application Fee

The application fee is $90. The application fee is waived for USC students and alumni.

International Applicants

International applicants, regardless of major, whose degree is completed in a country where English is not the only primary language are required to apply for the Summer semester and, if admitted, participate in the Summer Intensive Program.

Do you need to apply for the summer or fall semester?


  • Yuanfang from China has an undergraduate accounting degree from a university in Beijing. Since her courses were taught in Mandarin, she is required to apply for the Summer semester and, if admitted, participate in the Summer Intensive Program.
  • Yoojin went to South Korea for her undergraduate degree (non-accounting) but went to U.S. for a Master of Finance degree. She is required to apply for the Summer semester and, if admitted, participate in the Summer Intensive Program.
  • Anna received her undergraduate business degree from Australia where the language for instruction was English. Since her degree was not in accounting, she is required to apply for the Summer semester and, if admitted, participate in the Summer Intensive Program.

International Education Requirements

Applicants must have obtained an equivalent to a 4-year U.S. bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A list of minimum education requirements by country can be found here.


Transcripts from international universities must be submitted in the original language as well as in English. They must be sealed and sent directly from the university.

English Language Exams

ALL International students are required to submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic), or International English Language Testing System (IELTS). In order to qualify for the 2018 Summer Intensive Program, the exam must be taken on or after June 1, 2016. The score is valid for 2 years.

Minimum Scores:


  • You must score no less than 20 on each of the four test components

PTE Academic- 73

IELTS - 7.5

  • You must score no less than 6 on each band score.

Exceptions from taking the English Language Exam:

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year, accredited university located in the United States or officially recognized university in another country where English is both the language of instruction and the only officially recognized language of the country. The entire program must have been completed in the qualifying country. Students cannot have completed any units towards their degree outside the United States.  We cannot waive the English-proficiency requirement based on either a graduate degree from a university in the U.S. or other qualifying country or an undergraduate program taught in English in a non-Anglophone country.
  • Students whose native language is English. This applies to students from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada (except Quebec)

PTE Academic:
IELTS Website: USC will only accept IELTS scores sent electronically from the IELTS test center where you took the test. Paper test report forms received by postal mail or email are not accepted.

Proof of Financial Support (I-20 Form)

International applicants must submit documented evidence of financial support. The U.S. government requires that all international applicants provide proof of ability to pay tuition and living expenses for themselves and their dependents (if applicable) before a formal letter of admission and an I-20 form can be issued.

This document, stating your ability to pay for our one year program, must be verified by a bank and dated within the last nine months. Applicants who are relying on support from their home government or other official agency must send USC a financial guarantee letter -- preferably a bank letter -- with the sponsor’s name and address. Your sponsor's name (e.g. parents, relatives) on the financial document must be in English.
