About Me
Hi! I’m Sia Gupta, a freshman in BUAI focused on the applications of AI for businesses and communities. I’m inspired to build intelligent tools that are efficient, scalable, and ethically grounded. With experience across AI development, civic technologies, and policy research, I’m interested in exploring roles in AI Product Management and AI Operations— while working on my own ideas. In my free time, I love to build miniature models, write poetry, and try bizarre coffee blends with my friends!
What are some of your key professional/career interests?
I’m especially drawn to roles at the intersection of AI and business operations in both private enterprises and public / non-profit organizations. I hope to work in AI product management, business operations, or business analysis; In the future, I plan to launch a venture focused on responsible AI solutions for underserved communities, combining my interests in tech innovation and public service.

What are some relevant classes/coursework you have taken?
At UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, I participated in a residential business entrepreneurship program, and completed advanced college courses in Statistics / Data and Decisions where I applied statistical modeling to real business problems. I also completed coursework spanning Principles of Marketing, Statistics, Virtual Enterprise, Accounting, US Government, Economics, Computer Science Applications, and ML modeling. These experiences gave me a strong foundation in business operations and global economics, all of which I hope to build on at USC. In my first year as a BUAI student, I’ll cover classes delving into computer science and business fundamentals.
What are some of your projects or achievements?
In high school, I served as a youth officer with the Campbell-San Jose Police Department for 4+ years, assisting patrols and 911 calls, and leading city-wide civic events. Inspired by these experiences, I published a research paper titled “Machine Learning for Community Safety,” which explores how AI can be trained to identify and predict urban crime patterns. Using the analysis, I also launched CitySafe— an AI-based safety app deployed for San Jose. It combines predictive AI models and historical data to improve urban safety through alerts and risk scores. My leadership has been recognized with a Mayor’s Award and an FBI certificate of achievement.
