About Me

Hi! My name is Mariyah Jamali. I’m currently a junior at USC majoring in Artificial Intelligence for Business. I came into this program with minimal technical experience or knowledge on AI. Being curious and open-minded is what led me to pursue BUAI and all the opportunities that I’ve come across since. Coming into the BUAI cohort and USC environment, I’ve been able to learn so much and venture outside my comfort zone. I’ve had the opportunity to work with different start-ups that are utilizing AI or building their own AI products. I value creativity inside and outside of my coursework. I love to dance, explore different cultures, and experiment with different foods.

What are some of your key professional/career interests?

My career interests fall primarily within the product space. Strategy, marketing, and operations for AI products that actually can make a widespread positive impact on people. Specifically, I’d like to pursue a career in AI product management or product marketing.

What are some of your skills?

Technical: Python, C++, R, SQL, HTML/CSS, Figma, Framer Non-Technical: Leadership, Collaboration, Organization

What are some relevant classes/coursework you have taken?

GLP (Global Leadership Program): This class taught me the basics of business etiquette and how to present myself and be an exceptional leader. I met many great mentors and fellow students. The class ended with a fun and educational trip to Thailand!

BUAD 313: Advanced Operations Management and Analytics: This class showed me the way in which code and AI can be utilized in a business setting apart from building algorithms or software.

What are some of your projects or achievements?

1. Building an AI powered knowledge base for a bio-tech company that did not have an efficient system to access their internal information (thousands publications, research papers, etc).
2. In my own time, I launched an Instagram for my sister’s pop up coffee shop. What was supposed to be a small, intimate coffee “shop” ended up getting 34k+ profile views and a lot of random followers.
