Julia Plotts is a Professor of Clinical Finance & Business Economics at the USC Marshall School of Business. She has been teaching corporate finance and financial analysis and valuation at USC since 2002. She has received the Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence thirteen times and the Evan C. Thompson Teaching & Learning Innovation Award for Teaching (2011) and Mentoring (2012) and the Dean’s Award for Community (2010). She previously served as the Academic Director of the Master of Science in Finance program at USC Marshall School of Business. The program is ranked in the top 5 MSF programs in the country.
Prior to joining the faculty at USC, Plotts worked within the investment-banking group of Banc of America Securities LLC, where she was involved in the execution of mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and capital raising via private/public offerings of equity and debt. She has consulted on shareholder value creation initiatives for a variety of firms. She also worked as a lobbyist in the Financial Institutions Group of Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York and was a member of the legislative staff of the United States House of Representatives Committee on Banking and Financial Services, and the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Securities & Government Sponsored Enterprises during the 104th Congress in Washington, D.C.

Provided a review of the Titman/Martin Valuation text that was published in the Journal of Applied Finance Volume 19, No. 1&2 2009
During Fall 2007 worked with Dr. Thomas Gilligan on economic, finance and accounting-related research on durable goods and the leasing industry. My role involved identifying research assistants, aplying for USC research grant money and other directed research to support Gilligan's research and ultimately a teaching case.
Drafted a case study on financial statement analysis and earnings manipulation at Krispy Kreme Donughts (KKD).
I am a recipient of the Marshall/CIBER $10,000 award for my global case on Starbucks (SBUX). I have written a teaching case (with Instructors Manual). In March 2009 I travelled to Shanghai to meet with Starbucks Greater China.
