USC Marshall Welcomes 21 New Faculty
These faculty bring their varied expertise into the classroom, with a mix of academia, research, and real-world experience.
Elizabeth Woo, CPA, MBA, is a practicing certified public accountant in private practice, and a current member of the Board of Directors of Cathay General Bank. She previously served as the Managing Director and Head of Audit Methodology for Crowe LLP. Prior to that, she served as a Senior Manager in the National Assurance Office of BDO USA, LLP. Through her years of service within various facets of Public Accounting, Woo developed strong accounting and auditing skills, as well as developed her love for teaching accounting.
Woo is intensely specialized in the application and interpretation of U.S. accounting and auditing standards (GAAP, GAAS, PCAOB) for audit, review and agreed-upon procedures engagements. She is also deeply interested in the future of audit and work. Her previous projects investigated the practical application of innovative technologies such as data analytics, robotic process automation and artificial intelligence. Her work was instrumental in changing how independent public accounting firms implement such tools and technologies to transform the approach to audit execution.
Woo discovered her love of teaching accounting while teaching in BDO’s national training programs. Shortly thereafter, her role evolved into developing in-person and e-learning accounting courses for national and international delivery. She previously taught undergraduate accounting (Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced Financial Accounting) at her alma mater, UCLA. Teaching accounting at the university level has been her dream job ever since teaching her first audit staff onboarding.
Most of all, Woo desires to inspire her undergraduate accounting students, spark their curiosity and instill a passion for careers in public accounting.
