Cherie Molina

  • Senior Director of Alumni Relations

Cherie Molina is the Senior Director of Alumni Relations for the USC Marshall School of Business and the USC Leventhal School of Accounting. She oversees the alumni relations team, leads alumni engagement strategy, and oversees the Dean's Alumni Council, a working advisory board for the Dean that plans a 1-day conference for alumni, by alumni, called the Leadership Summit. Cherie served as the Associate Director of Alumni Relations from October 2022 to January 2024, where she received an award from the Association of Business School Alumni Professionals for her work to elevate the Graduate Programs Reunion Weekend Program. She currently serves on the Association of Business School Alumni Professionals (ABSAP) Board of Directors.

Cherie has over a decade of higher education experience, beginning with her marketing role at HazingPrevention.Org. She then worked under the Housing and Greek Life Office as a Greek Life Residence Director for the University of the Pacific. Cherie moved back east to work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Greek Life Office as a Coordinator and at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School as the Assistant Director of Alumni Community. She also worked at the neighboring rival school, Duke University, as the Assistant Director of Regional Engagement. Cherie has a passion for higher education and supports lifelong affinities back to her university.

Fun Fact: Cherie has lived in three different Orange Counties: Orange County in FL, NC, and CA.

  • Most Improved Alumni Relations Initiative Award

    Graduate Programs Reunion Weekend

    This was the second formal year for this program. Over the past year, there was a remarkable increase in alumni engagement and participation, with numbers growing from 129 alumni in 2022, representing six-degree programs and six class years, to 235 alumni in 2023, encompassing 10-degree programs while maintaining representation across six class years.

    The cornerstone of their success was the activation and involvement of 20 dedicated alumni who took on the roles of Graduate Programs Reunion Ambassadors. The Ambassadors were tasked with contacting their classmates, getting their classmates registered for the weekend, and helping the team update their classmates’ alumni profiles. The ambassadors also initiated class notes and gathered throwback photos, which created a vibrant and nostalgic atmosphere that resonated with alumni. This initiative significantly enhanced the sense of community and connection among graduates.

    The Ambassadors also hosted class receptions, providing alumni with opportunities to reconnect, network, and celebrate their shared experiences. These events were pivotal in fostering a stronger alumni network and encouraging ongoing engagement.

    The reunion weekend featured a variety of events and activities designed to appeal to a wide range of alumni interests like professional development headshots, experiential learning sessions, updates from the School, and social events.

    By leveraging the enthusiasm and commitment of their alumni ambassadors, they not only increased participation from year one, but also further strengthened the bonds within their alumni community.
