Sidney Rittenberg, author, teacher, and famed consultant on doing business in China passed away on August 24, 2019. Sidney began sharing his unique knowledge about doing business in China with executive participants in IBEAR’s Pacific Rim Management Program beginning in 1986, with executive participants in IBEAR’s Asia/Pacific Business Outlook beginning in 1994, and with IBEAR MBA students, alumni, and professors during classroom sessions and receptions at USC, as well as in Shanghai and Beijing. Sidney and his lifetime companion, Yulin Rittenberg, brought their unique experiences and profound wisdom to USC during more than 25 visits between 1986 and 2017. Their extraordinary life story is told in an August New York Times article titled, Sidney Rittenberg, Idealistic American Aide to Mao Who Evolved to Counsel Capitalists, Dies at 98.
