More than anything in college, it is essential to find the major that is right for you, but also not too be too intimidated that you have find it right off the bat. I believe one of the most important things they don’t tell you when you apply to school is that most of the time, you will change your major at least once during your time in college – and that is more than alright! Here, at USC, you are encouraged to explore all your passions until you find the major that truly is the perfect fit. Luckily for me, I found in Business Administration essentially a dream major as it combined every quality of my academic self into a single driven passion. For me, Business is the right fit because of three things – it challenges me, it fascinates me, and it inspires me. Each and every I walk into a class in the Business School, I am guaranteed to be given a task or assignment that is going to challenge my perspective and push my mind in a way that it never has before. While some students may shy away from such a mental challenge, I seek to find these opportunities because it is in those experiences, that I find myself learning the most. Therefore, Marshall brings students together who truly do “live for the challenge” and learn to embrace it instead of shying away. I am also a business student because the curriculum fascinates me. The information that I learn on a day to day basis in the classroom captures my attention in a way that no other course’s subject matter can. I am so passionate about my business classes that I find myself only looking forward to those classes and only doing the reading and work for my Marshall classes. I even find that I procrastinate by getting ahead in reading for classes such as Corporate Finance. So, call me a nerd if you would like, but I am truly happy to be a business nerd in the Marshall School of Business. Lastly, I am a business student because my classes, my peers, and the entire Marshall community inspire me each and every day to be the best version of myself. I strive to live up to my fullest potential every time I step on campus or into Fertitta Hall because I am aware that I am surrounded by some of the “best of the best” in the country. As such, I love the challenge of living up to the expectations of my peers and because of their superior talent, insight, and abilities, I consistently find myself striving to be a better, more well-rounded individual, both professionally and personally. In this way, I am positive that I would not be where I am today had it not been for the extremely high bar that they have set for me and for the entire Undergraduate Student Body. Here, at Marshall, we push each other to truly be the best we can be, and I could not ask for anything more.
