When Megan Meza, the Founder and CEO of Bandida, LLC, created her Horchata Cold Brew, she had a dream of launching a national brand of healthy and socially responsible beverages. But how? Enter the MS Food Industry Leadership “Dream Team” – a group of graduate students from USC Marshall School of Business with the education and on-the-job experience needed to take a critical look at the burgeoning Bandida and offer research-based recommendations for moving forward during Covid and beyond.
Yasmine Abdel (Olam International), Sam Fescoln (Cub Foods/UNFI), Katherine Lanfranki (Rise Baking Company), Alexander Macksoud (Smart & Final), Allison Monroe (General Mills), and Harmon Swartz (Southwest Foodservice Excellence) brought their experience across the food industry to help Meza examine her goals and objectives and to chart her next steps in breaking into the U.S. beverage industry and empowering women and minorities. The results were presented to USC faculty, students, and industry professionals at the Inaugural Capstone Presentations event hosted by the Master of Science, Food Industry Leadership program in the fall of 2020.
