What surprised you most about Marshall?
I was surprised about how diverse and unique my classmates are. We have people who come to business school from backgrounds such as musicians, lawyers, prosecutors, professional athletes and so on. Every day there is a new opportunity for us to learn from each other and grow.

What do you wish you'd known before attending business school?
Coming to business school from an engineering background, I would say the biggest challenge for me is to learn and apply different business concepts such as accounting and corporate finance in a fast paced environment. For people from non-business backgrounds, take the time to preview course materials if possible. However, business schools can get busy even for people with prior business degrees. So another critical skill to develop for everyone is to learn how to effectively prioritize your tasks and goals. Time management is and will be one of the most important skills.

Why did you choose Marshall?
The unparalleled location and community make me decide to join Marshall. I was working in Southern California before business school and preferred joining an MBA program here too. Having visited LA several times but never had the chance to live and study here, I narrowed my target area to be within LA. What makes Marshall really stand out is the strong feeling of community and supportiveness I've experienced since I submitted my application. Everyone I reached out to was generous with their time and willing to share the experience with me to help out. Now looking back, I think I made the right decision to be part of the Trojan Family!
