DATA SCIENCES AND OPERATIONS

Andrew Daw
"The Co-Production of Service: Modeling Service Times in Contact Centers Using Hawkes Processes” (with A. Castellanos, G. Yom-Tov, J. Pender and L. Gruendlinger) has been named a finalist for the POMS Applied Research Challenge.

Kimon Drakopoulos
“Providing Data Samples for Free” (with A. Makhdoumi) has been accepted for publication by Management Science

Lorena Martin
“Disparities in Tennis Participation and level of Play Based on Socioeconomic Status and Ethnicity’ (in collaboration with the Southern California Tennis Assoc.) was accepted for publication in the American College of Sports Medicine, which publishes five peer-reviewed journals covering an array of disciplines within sports medicine and exercise science.

Martin was also awarded a research grant for initiating a study in ethnicity disparities and socieconomic status inequality in tennis, that will be conducted by her and her student in collaboration with the United States Tennis Association.

At this year’s Joint Statistical Meetings, Martin will be a panelist in regard to data privacy and analytics in professional sports alongside panelists from the NBA, U.S. Olympics Committee, and the NFL. She will also chair the panel on Diversity and Inclusion in Analytic Roles in the Professional Sports Industry including panelists from the NBA, NFL, ATP Tour and FIBA.

“Macroeconomic Implications of Uniform Pricing” (with Julian Kozlowski) has been published in the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics.

Erin Kaplan
“Demand for School Quality and Local District Administration” (with Courtney A. Collins) has been accepted for publication in the Economics of Education Review.

Rodney Ramcharan
“The Pass-Through of Uncertainty Shocks to Households” (with Marco Di Maggio, Amir Kermani, Vincent Yao and Edison Yu) has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Financial Economics.

Patricia Dechow
…has been inducted into the Australian Accounting Hall of Fame at the University of Melbourne.

Jill Kickul
…has been awarded an honorary Doctorate of Economics from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Business and Economics of Abo Akademi University, Finland, in honor of her contributions to the field of social entrepreneurship.

Dan Fehder
“Revealing the Revealed Preferences of Public Firm CEOs and Top Executives: A New Database From Credit Card Spending” (with Joe Raffiee and Florenta Teodoridis) was accepted for publication in the Strategic Management Journal (SMJ).

Shaun Harper
…has been named a University Professor, one of the highest honors the University can bestow upon faculty. Only one other Marshall professor had earned the title: Warren Bennis. Read more.

"The Concept of Authenticity: What it Means for Consumers" (with A. Ordanini and G. Giambustiani) has won the Shelby D. Hunt/Harold H. Maynard Award, recognizing the 2021 Journal of Marketing article that has made the most significant contribution to marketing theory.
