The Marshall Undergraduate Career Services Team is here to help Marshall students navigate the career exploration process and provide meaningful advice to our students throughout the undergraduate experience. Stop by our office in JFF 201 or visit the other pages on our website to learn more!

Career Services Advisors are available by appointment and for walk-in advising throughout most of the academic year. During the summer and school breaks, advisors are available by appointment only. All current undergraduate Marshall majors are eligible for career advising.

Onma Lwin (bio)

Onma brings over 25 years of diverse experience in talent management to Marshall Undergraduate Career Services.  She began her career in executive search with global firms such as Korn/Ferry International, Heidrick & Struggles and Spencer Stuart.  She was then recruited to lead the corporate staffing and university relations for Nestle USA.  In 2010, Onma joined USC Marshall School of Business as a Corporate Liaison in the MBA Career Services.  There she worked with the full-time and PM MBA programs.  She also served as Associate Director of Career Services for the mid-career international IBEAR MBA program.  Onma sees her career as having evolved from helping great companies find talent to helping great talent find their employer of choice.

Onma earned her B.A. from Vassar College and her M.S. from the London School of Economics.  In her spare time, Onma volunteers in her local community and enjoys cooking and entertaining friends and family.

Lisa Luna (bio)

An innovative team-player who is unafraid to think differently, always going the extra mile and keeps current on the latest career services trends. Lisa has over ten years of experience in higher education including career services, recruitment/admissions and academic planning. In addition she spent five years in the healthcare industry serving as an office manager for a large private practice facility and as a freelance program coordinator for pharmaceutical sales force training.

As Associate Director, she contributes and manages content for key communication pieces, identifies opportunities for improvement and growth by tracking and managing data for external and internal audits, and successfully manages and maintains CRM software including Symplicity and Salesforce.

She enjoys a good cup of coffee, cooking for her family, and trips to Disneyland with her son.

Lauren served as the USC Marshall Undergraduate Student Services Coordinator for two years, where she supported all career, student organization, and international programming initiatives before joining the Career Services team in fall 2016. Prior to entering the field of Higher Education, Lauren worked at several advertising agencies (180LA, RPA, Deutsch LA) on the account management team. Born and raised in Southern California, Lauren earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree from Loyola Marymount University in May 2010 and is excited to start the USC Price School of Public Policy’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program in fall 2017. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, hiking, Lakeshow, Broncos, Arsenal, ice-cream cake, and puppies.

Ellecia Williams (bio)

Ellecia is responsible for Career Advisment & Education and the industry sectors for Accounting, Entertainment/Media, and Retail & Fashion. Prior to Career Services, Ellecia served as an Assistant Director in the Marshall Office of Undergraduate Advising & Student Affairs for five years.  Ellecia brings over 20 years of experience in corporate, higher education and non-profits.  She worked as a Market Analyst at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in the Forest Products Group.  Ellecia also worked in University Advancement at Portland State University and advised science students at Washington State University Vancouver and Clark College.  Ellecia began her career with the INROADS organization, as Manager of Corporate Development in Dallas-Ft. Worth and later as the first Managing Director in Portland, Oregon.  She assessed staffing requirements in collaboration with corporate sponsors and placed interns in various functions within fortune 500 companies. 

 

Ellecia holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Clark Atlanta University and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Texas A&M University - Mays School of Business.

Lauren Cardenas (bio)

Lauren Cardenas is a student affairs professional with a background in strategic partnerships and client relationship management. Prior to joining Marshall, she was the Assistant Director of Experiential Learning and Career Advising at Pomona College where she led the flagship summer grant program for unpaid domestic and international opportunities. During her tenure, she helped launch a project-based fellowship program for undocumented students and was a frequent collaborator with the Academic Dean’s office on international initiatives. Lauren has also worked for The Posse Foundation, a nationally recognized merit-based leadership-scholarship program. During her nearly five years at Posse, Lauren helped talented students gain admission to top-tier colleges and universities across the country, facilitated intensive leadership development workshops, and eventually managed career services and employer partnerships for the career program.

She is also a master certified peer counselor with Empower Work, a San Francisco-based nonprofit that provides confidential support for tough work situations via SMS or web chat. In her spare time, Lauren works as a freelance illustrator and enjoys making fresh pasta, manually grinding coffee, and practicing her karaoke setlist.

Lauren earned her B.A. in Religion from Swarthmore College where she studied Southeast Asian and West African popular religious traditions.

Jason Tran (bio)

Passionate, energetic, and friendly, Jason is dedicated to help others realize their fullest career potential! Prior to joining Marshall, Jason served as a University Advisor at the Loyola Marymount University (LMU) Academic Resource Center. As a University Advisor, Jason provided general academic advising to all undergraduate students regarding university policy, core requirements and study skills. In addition, he taught a course focused on helping students fine-tune essential career writing skills called Career Communications. Jason also worked at the UCLA Career Center for almost five years as a Career counselor where he assisted students with their career development through 1-on-1 career counseling, innovative programming, and various presentations to different student populations.

Jason received his M.A. from Loyola Marymount University in Counseling and his B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Asian American Studies at UCLA.

He is a ‘hardcore’ Los Angeles Lakers fan who enjoys meditating, reading, watching Marvel superhero movies, the beach, and exploring different types of cuisine!

Karen Suarez (bio)

Karen has 25+ years of career counseling experience working with thousands of students in all disciplines. She has worked at several prestigious Los Angeles institutions including USC’s Career Center, Pomona College, Occidental College and Pitzer College where she was a Director of Career Services for 12 years. Karen holds the Master Career Counselor designation from the National Career Development Association, is a Certified Professional Résumé Writer and a member of the Professional Association of Résumé Writers & Career Coaches. She understands which key elements support a successful job/internship search and takes the time needed to be sure her students understand their value as well. A New York native, Karen has traveled to 33 countries and has lived in Bombay, India and Montreal, Canada.

Erica Tang (bio)

Erica is a recent graduate of the USC Price School of Public Policy. During her time at USC, she was active in various student activities. She participated in the International Student Assembly Mentee/Mentor Program, Asian Pacific American Student Services, Teaching for International Relations, and the Sol Price School Student Ambassador Program. Erica’s biggest role (outside of being a full-time student) was working as a Program Assistant for the master’s program in the Price School, the Master of International Public Policy and Management (IPPAM) Program. She led summer and fall orientation workshops for incoming international students, assisting with planning and implementing programs and events, supporting executive training, and keeping and updating student records.

Prior to working at the USC Marshall School of Business, Erica worked as a Program Coordinator at a consulting firm for supply chain quality management. As a Program Coordinator, she coordinated supplier audits and inspections for pharmaceutical companies. 

Erica enjoys eating dim sum with her family, attending tailgates in the fall season with her fellow alumni, chasing sunsets, and watching shows and movies on Disney Plus.
