The Business of Medicine

Health care is currently the most dynamic industry in the United States. It continues to become more complex through policy changes, managed care consolidation and the growing pressure to manage costs. These conditions have created a fundamental desire by physicians to take back control of the health care industry. The USC Master of Medical Management (MMM) degree provides the formal business education physicians seek in order to realize their professional goals.

The MMM program includes four, seven-day residential sessions over a 12 month period. During the interim periods between residential sessions, the program includes off-campus projects, assignments, and some modules that are taught in a distance learning format.

• CMEs - Students are eligible for 25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits upon completion of the program.

How is the MMM different from an MBA?

Whereas the typical executive MBA covers a wide range of business and industry structures, and public health degrees stray too far from business and management, the MMM focuses on leadership and entrepreneurial thinking within a health care context to prepare physician executives to be leaders and change agents in the field.

The program is an integrated management curriculum designed by the Marshall School of Business, the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy, and the Keck School of Medicine.
