Why did you choose Marshall?

I'm not gonna lie, the number one reason I chose Marshall was for the Southern California lifestyle. The combination of vacation-like weather mixed with a city full of opportunities was too much to turn down. Also, the Trojan Network and PRIME trip were incredible selling points.

What surprised you the most about Marshall?

I am constantly surprised by how helpful and supportive my classmates are. You hear rumors about ultra competitive MBA programs full of rivals, but USC couldn't be further from that. Students lead review sessions for their fellow classmates and there is a ton of collaborative studying for exams on campus. Within a week of starting the program there was strong camaraderie among the whole class.

Favorite USC Marshall experience:

My favorite part has been the speakers that come to campus. Between GE presenting on the future of industrial internet during a case competition, Butterfinger teaching our marketing class for a day, and Disney discussing internship opportunities, there is always something exciting to attend. As a career switcher, it has been very enlightening and educational to get the opportunity to hear from such a wide range of companies and industries.

What you wish you knew before attending business school?

I wish I knew how busy life would be in business school, though I'm not sure I could have prepared for it. There is something due in at least one class everyday of the week, but schoolwork is only one portion of the responsibilities of an MBA student. Also included in the balancing act is preparing for internship recruiting, participating in extracurricular clubs, and continuing a normal social life.
