Why did you choose Marshall?

Both the Trojan network and the collaborative nature of the program were deciding factors in my choice to attend Marshall. I knew I wanted to bring my career to Southern California and USC's powerful alumni network would help me to accomplish that. It was also very important to me to be in a supportive environment and I was really impressed by the enthusiasm and sense of community exhibited from my ambassador and the other students during my visit- it was hard not to get on the Trojan bandwagon! I got the sense that at Marshall, I could really connect with my fellow classmates. After watching the classroom dynamics and speaking with other students, I knew that Marshall prided itself on the same ideals of teamwork and collaborative involvement that I valued.

What surprised you the most about Marshall?

The diverse career backgrounds of our MBA class! Everyone brings something to the table, and its amazing to be a part of a classroom environment where business subjects are discussed with such different perspectives. Coming from a business background, I thought I would be able to help those who have not yet been exposed to certain subjects- I never anticipated how much they would teach me! I have truly learned a great deal in such a short time, and I owe that to my classmates.

Favorite USC Marshall experience:

From a non-academic standpoint, my favorite USC Marshall experience was the mac n cheese birthday cake from one of my classmates!

What you wish you knew before attending business school?

I wish that I knew how much self-reflection is required. You are constantly challenged to use your strengths and develop your weaknesses and it helps to have direction very early on. The sooner the better!
