Why did you choose Marshall?

The Trojan Network, the location, PRIME, the people, and the culture. Marshall is very social. It isn't about grades. It is about helping each other and making lifelong friends. The professors are awesome and care about their students. Now that I am here, I can't imagine myself at another school.

What surprised you the most about Marshall?

How intense first semester is. Everyone warns you, but you don't truly understand until you experience it for yourself. Every week is more difficult than the previous one. The various aspects of school (assignments, friends, career, and clubs) dominate your life. With that said, everyone is in it together, and the intensity brings the class closer together. You will survive.

Favorite USC Marshall Core Class:

Strategy with Professor Fiss. Just make sure to always tell him more.

Favorite USC Marshall experience:

Orientation. It is an exhausting week, but I learned a lot about myself and got to meet a lot of amazing people. Tip for orientation: always make an effort to sit with someone new. Everyone is really friendly, and meeting new people is what orientation is all about.

What you wish you knew before attending business school?

Give yourself 4 to 6 weeks off before orientation to relax and get settled in LA. First semester wears you down. Make sure you are fully rested at the beginning. Also, you can't do it all, and no matter what anyone says, you don't need to. First semester is a marathon, not a sprint. You will come in the first week, and you will try to do everything. By the end of term 2, you will laugh when you reflect on the first week. Divide and conquer. Help each other out. Don't stress about grades.
