Start Term
Applicants may apply for either a summer or fall start term, depending on their academic background.

• Students with an undergraduate degree in accounting or equivalent coursework begin the program in the fall semester.
• Students without an accounting degree or equivalent coursework are required to begin the program in the summer semester with the Summer Intensive Program, which provides the necessary foundation for graduate-level accounting coursework.

Program Length
The program may be completed in two or three semesters, depending on a student’s academic preparation.

• Students entering in the fall complete the program in two semesters.
• Students beginning in the summer complete the program in three semesters.
  The total required units range from 30 to 45, including summer coursework where applicable.

This 15 unit 8-week summer course is designed for incoming Master of Accounting and Master of Business Taxation students with limited accounting backgrounds. The program is designed as a critical foundation to prepare these students for success in the classroom and employment recruiting during the full-time academic year. Students need an undergraduate degree and as few as three specific accounting and business courses prior to beginning Summer Intensive.

Students in the Summer Intensive Program come from a wide variety of educational backgrounds. Some students have just graduated and others have been out for 3+ years.

We understand that the program is challenging so our Faculty and Instructional Assistants provide extensive support throughout the summer. The Instructional Assistants, all recent graduates from our program and many having completed Summer Intensive in the prior year, lead review sessions and provide assistance during homework and study time.

Summer Intensive Curriculum: Intro to Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Introduction to Audit & Assurance, Introduction to Taxation, Advanced Accounting

Professional Development

Throughout the Summer Intensive students will participate in professional development workshops designed to expand skills in business communication, writing and presentations.

While the summer study schedule is quite intense, we encourage our students to create balance during this time. The Program Office plans several events to encourage students to relax and take a break from their studies.

We’re thrilled to announce the KPMG Master of Accounting with Data and Analytics (MADA) Scholarship Program, now available at USC Leventhal School of Accounting! This exciting initiative, brought to you in partnership with KPMG, aims to increase interest in the field of accounting and support ambitious students through valuable scholarship opportunities.

Selected students who meet the following criteria can receive a KPMG scholarship for tuition assistance, up to $40,000, and an additional scholarship from USC Leventhal:

1. Apply to, receive, and accept an Audit Associate offer with KPMG.

2. Apply and be accepted into USC’s Master of Accounting (Data & Analytics track) program.

3. Complete a bachelor’s degree in accounting prior to the start of your master’s degree, unless attending undergrad at a current participating university as part of a 4+1/integrated master’s program.

4. Be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.

5. Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, both at the time of application and throughout the scholarship period.

6. Plan to complete and then complete all educational requirements to be CPA license eligible (in the intended state of employment) upon finishing the master’s degree program and prior to beginning full-time employment with KPMG.

7. Selected participants must successfully complete their Master of Accounting (Data & Analytics track) degree and maintain full-time employment with KPMG for 1-2 years, based on the amount of scholarship received, following their Audit Associate start date.
