Graduate Certificate in Technology Commercialization

Graduate Certificate in Technology Commercialization

The Certificate in Technology Commercialization provides students with a unique opportunity to learn commercialization skills in a real world environment that combines theory and practice.

Graduate Certificate in Technology Commercialization

Students participate in this living laboratory program to experience the entire spectrum of the commercialization process: invention, product development, technical and market feasibility analysis, intellectual property acquisition, business design, and venture funding, while potentially becoming stakeholders in a new technology venture. Students benefit from faculty in science, engineering, and business to guide them. They are also eligible to apply for internships sponsored by industry partners to give them additional experience in taking a new technology to market.

Who Should Do the Certificate Program?

The certificate program is particularly suited to masters and PhD candidates in science, engineering, and business, but we encourage students from other disciplines who are interested in technology businesses to apply. You do not need to be a matriculated student at USC to undertake the program. Anyone who holds a graduate degree in a related field is welcome to apply. The program may be completed on either a full- or part-time basis. Classes applicable to the certificate are offered during both daytime and evening hours.

Successful completion of the program is acknowledged by a certificate awarded by the university.

APPLYING TO USC MARSHALL

The Graduate Certificate in Technology Commercialization is offered to complement or extend an individual's graduate education.

The program is open to current USC graduate students and any individual who holds an undergraduate degree equivalent to a 4-year US bachelor's degree from USC or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.

International students: Because the program requires only 12 units and cannot be completed in one semester, it is not possible for non-resident aliens who are not already matriculated USC students to complete this program.

All program participants are required to apply for admission and matriculate as USC students. (The program may not be completed on a "limited status" or visiting basis.)
