What made you choose to attend USC Marshall?
Beside coming to USC to play volleyball, I chose to attend USC Marshall because it offers the best combination of an elite, academic undergraduate business program and an unbeatable alumni network. These two things are what I believed to be crucial in creating long-term success for my future. I also wanted to surround myself with the future leaders of the world. The Global Leadership Program (GLP) was also one of the things that made USC so unique: I took part in a year-long class where CEOs and executives of major companies spoke to us every week. At the end of the year, the GLP class took a trip to China to expand our global perspectives. It was easily one of the coolest experiences I've had. Lastly, I chose USC Marshall because of how much they care about their students. There are plenty of events put on by both Marshall, and Marshall-affiliated student organizations that help set students up for jobs and internships, making it really easy to discover your passion. With this in mind, not picking USC Marshall would have been the biggest mistake of my life.
Advice you wish you had known while applying to college:
I came from an area where high school was competitive and toxic at times. I had thought that if I didn't attend an Ivy League school, I was a failure. One of the biggest realizations I've had is that it's not where you go to school, but what you do with your time there. USC Marshall has given me so many opportunities to expand my network and discover my passion for finance. I channeled this passion into both my academic focus and professional development. From my experience, these opportunities at USC Marshall have made my college experience unforgettable.
USC activities/general hobbies:
Aside from being a Marshall Student Ambassador, I am also on the USC Division I Men's Volleyball and the Chief Operations Officer of the Trojan Investing Society. I also love exploring new places to eat in LA and traveling around the world.
Why do you love Los Angeles?
I love Los Angeles because it has everything to offer. By everything, I mean that there is so much in LA, that you won't ever run out of new things to do. You could go skiing in the mountains and surfing down at the beach in the same day. Right next to Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, and Universal Studios, Los Angeles has it all. To top it off, the food in LA is amazing. I love going out with my friends to try foods from new and unfamiliar cultures. Best of all, the weather is amazing. It's sunny and warm year-round; it never gets too hot or too cold.
What global experiences have you had in college?
I went to Beijing and Shanghai as part of the Global Leaders Program. The program is for the top students in Marshall to expand their global perspective and to learn about becoming a leader.
What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at Marshall?
USC is the best resource you can have when it comes to the job and internship search process. I interned as a Business Valuation Intern at Andersen Tax my freshman summer, a Private Equity Intern at OpenGate Capital my sophomore summer, and I will be joining Moelis and Company as an investment banking summer analyst next year.
