Special event will feature alumni business leaders and a workshop on executive presence—taught by USC Drama faculty

international Women's DayGet insights from women in corporate leadership and try a little improv to build your executive presence at USC Marshall’s 2022 International Women’s Day Celebration on Thursday, March 31, from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Tutor Campus Center Ballroom. 

The event, based on International Women’s Day (observed on March 8 and founded in 1911), is organized by a committee comprised of Marshall faculty, staff, and student leaders from Graduate Women in Business (GWiB).  Now in its sixth year, the event will be held in person for the first time since 2019 and will showcase Trojan women making a mark across various industries. Carmen Nava—USC trustee, chair of the USC Marshall Board of Councilors and member of the Corporate Advisory Board of the USC Latino Alumni Association—will welcome attendees at 2 p.m. and introduce USC President Carol Folt, who will provide the opening remarks.

A 2:30 p.m. panel on Women’s Leadership in Times of Rapid Change will feature Sally Chan BS ’02, MBA ’11, VP of community engagement with the Warner Bros. Entertainment Group of Companies; Cecilia A. Green MBA ’07, global marketing lead at Meta; and Amaree Tanawong MBA ’08, director of strategy and operations at YouTube BrandConnect. Emily Aguilar MBA ’22, president of the Marshall Graduate Student Association, will moderate the discussion of how to turn challenges into opportunities in the post-Covid new normal.

During an experiential learning workshop at 3:45 p.m., Kirstin Eggers and Zack Steel from the USC School of Dramatic Arts will lead attendees through improvisation exercises designed to elevate executive presence. USC School of Dramatic Arts Dean Emily Roxworthy will provide the framework and introduce this workshop.

The closing keynote address will be presented by Cathy Hyodo BS ’93, partnership board member and Los Angeles office managing partner at Grant Thornton.
