Advertising Red Books (now known as Winmo)
Detailed information on US and international advertising agencies and advertisers.  Use Quick Search or Advanced Search to access the Agency database, the Advertiser database or both.

BCC Research
BCC Research provides objective, unbiased measurement and assessment of market opportunities with detailed market research reports.  In order to access the database select ‘Member Login’ in the upper right corner, and choose the IP Authenticate option.

Bloomberg is available to current Marshall students, faculty & staff only. Please see instructions accessing Bloomberg’s temporary virtual access on our MyMarshall site. Bloomberg Disaster Recovery (DR) is available virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic. Access via Bloomberg terminals will resume after the pandemic.

Business Periodicals Index Retrospective: 1913-1982 (H.W. Wilson)
Provides indexing and citations to articles from a wide range of historic business journals.  Full text of the articles may be available in print or electronic form through the Library collections or Interlibrary Loan.

Capital IQ (accounts available to anyone with a current USC user ID and Password)

  • You MUST login to the USC VPN before you can register and/or  use Capital IQ.  
  • If you have never had a Capital IQ account: To request a new account: log on to, press New User at the upper right and register. You will need to use your USC e-mail account ending in .edu Your account is between you and Capital IQ, if you forget your login credentials, you will need to go through Capital IQ (see link above).  
  • Capital IQ Plug-in: Once you have logged into Capital IQ, you can download the Plug-in (API), just hover over MyCapital IQ (red tab on the left), and press downloads. You can download all or make your own selections.
  • If you had a Capital IQ account via MyMarshall, and it has expired, we can extend your account until you graduate.  Unfortunately, the plug-in is not available. Please contact Bree Russell,  or Helga Haraldsson,  and we will get your account extended.

Collection of digital historical annual reports for U.S. & International companies in PDF format. Also included are Moody's Corporate & Municipal Manuals in PDF format (includes bonds, yields, various agency funds and income statistics by state).

Mergent Online
Mergent Online offers key company information, such as financials, basic stock pricing, annual reports and filings. Use the Horizon Tab to search for trade names, industries, products, services, competitors and more.

This database contains historical M&A transactions,  multiples for analysis of M&A volumes and values.  Mergermarket also focuses on pre-event intelligence before the deals are announced.  Also included are League tables, independent coverage of Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Private Equity (PE), and of course, the deals database. This database is limited to Marshall students, faculty and staff and requires Marshall login credentials for access.

Mint Global
US and international company information from Bureau van Dijk including MarketLine market research and company reports (same content as Orbis with a different interface).

PrivCo is the premiere source for business and financial research on non-publicly traded corporations, including family-owned, private equity-owned, venture-backed and international unlisted companies. You must create an account (USC e-mail address) to login.

Social Explorer

SSRN (Social Science Research Network)

Winmo (formerly Advertising Red Books)

World Bank Worldwide Development Indicators
Provides direct access to more than 700 development indicators, with time series for 208 countries and 18 country groups from 1960 to present. A subset of these data can be viewed graphically within the World Bank's Data Visualizer.
