The Trojan Family is made up of great minds, and you’ll probably recognize quite a few.

Members of the Trojan Family, both new and old, have a mutual understanding of what a vast network can help you achieve.

    Janice Bryant Howroyd

Howroyd is the mother of a USC grad and one of the university's strongest supporters. In addition to sitting on the USC College Board of Councilors, she is the owner and CEO of ACT-1, the largest privately held, woman-owned workforce solutions company in the country. Her generous donations to USC are in support of student aid programs that provide access for students who could not otherwise afford a college education.

    Milan Carter

Carter came to USC after originally thinking she wanted to study on the East Coast or internationally. She has been involved with philanthropic organizations at USC and in global study abroad programs with members of the Trojan Family. In her freshman year, she started to give back to the community through USC Troy Camp (a mentorship, tutoring, and adventure program for kids in South Los Angeles) and Habitat For Humanity. Learn more from Carter’s ambassador profile.

    Marc Benioff

Benioff graduated from Marshall in 1982 and is a pioneer of cloud computing. He is the chairman and CEO of Salesforce, a multibillion-dollar technology company located in San Francisco. Benioff is a friend of the university, who credits his success as an entrepreneur to his summer internship with Apple while at Marshall.

    Naomi Toux-Kidane

Toux-Kidane knew the importance of getting her foot in the door at major accounting firms from the get-go. Like Benioff, she understood the right internships could set up her career for success. The summer after her freshman year, she interned with Ernst and Young. Read about her other experiences in her ambassador profile.

    David Lee (Alumnus)

Lee immigrated from Hong Kong with his family at age 9. He graduated from USC in 1992 and immediately joined the family business. He quickly led the transformation of Hing Wa Lee Gallery from a wholesale watch distributor to the luxury retailer it is today. Lee is now the CEO of the family business.

    Andy Gabler

Gabler hails from Minnesota and chose Marshall for its diversity, culture, location, and strong network. He believes the biggest advantage of leaving home for L.A. was the access he gained to all the prominent businesses and organizations. “USC has exposed me to so much more diversity than my community back home. I have already met more international students than I can count, and I have learned a ton about other cultures,” he explains in his ambassador profile.

    Dan Bane

Bane, the CEO of multibillion-dollar grocery chain Trader Joe’s, does not credit the chain’s success to luck. He notes that the company’s emphasis on integrity and its focus on unique products have led to its success. Bane graduated from Leventhal in 1969 and found educational opportunities in all aspects of his life at USC—even lessons in leadership while on the baseball field. Read more about Bane’s experiences mentoring current students through the Career Advantage Program.

    Jason Zhang

Zhang chose to attend USC Marshall because of the countless opportunities that it provides in international learning excursions, community involvement, professional development, and career advancements. Since 2015, he has focused on building his resume with internships and leadership programs. Thus far, he has completed a Global Leadership Program in Beijing and interned with Captivate Entertainment at Universal Studios, Keyssa in San Jose, The Boeing Company in Seattle, and RippleMatch in Los Angeles.
