Marshall Peer Tutoring Program

Tutoring is available for all students enrolled in the following courses: ECON 351x, ECON 352x, BUAD 285ab or 286ab, BUAD 305, BUAD 306, BUAD 310, & BUAD 311.

Marshall Peer Tutors offer two types of tutoring: Group tutoring and drop-in tutoring.

Group tutoring is done in a group format to review and discuss content covered in the previous and current weeks. Group tutoring is scheduled Monday-Wednesday from 8-9pm in the Experiential Learning Center (ELC) in BRI-3 beginning the third week of the term. The ELC will be divided up into four separate rooms (one for each subject) and students will go to the respective room for the subject they are inquiring about. Group tutoring is also known as supplemental instruction and is effective because the peer tutor serves as a facilitator and students provide the knowledge by sharing concepts based on their lecture notes, class handouts, etc.

Drop-in tutoring is primarily done one-on-one, but peer tutors are also trained to assist multiple students at once even if they are tackling different problems/questions/concepts. Drop-in tutoring is available Monday-Wednesday from 9-10pm in the Experiential Learning Center (ELC) in BRI-3 and Friday from 11am-4pm in HOH 422. The ELC will be divided up into four separate rooms (one for each subject) and students will go to the respective room for the subject they are inquiring about. On Fridays in HOH 422, tutors will be available for each subject in one room. We recommend that students try a group session first, as the group setting allows students to learn from the peer tutor as well as one another. Many students have success with the group supplemental instruction method.
