Leventhal School of Accounting Undergraduate Program

Accounting is the method by which business is communicated. Choosing to be an accounting major at USC sets you on a path to be part of a close-knit community of students, faculty, staff and alumni. Work on a myriad of team projects, get involved in networking activities with the firms, and participate in student organization activities. There are social events with accounting firms, networking opportunities at recruiting events, and social events where you can relax and have fun. Much of this interaction is centered in the Leventhal School of Accounting Collaborative Learning Center (commonly known as the Accounting Library). Once students graduate, they continue to stay involved through alumni events or recruiting activities with their firms. Students develop life-long friends and connections.

If you would like more information about becoming an accounting major, come to ACC 101 to chat with one of the advisors. They can answer your questions and help you outline your program of study. Majoring in accounting at USC is both challenging and rewarding. The Leventhal School of Accounting does require a higher accounting grade point average than is required by the University or the Marshall School of Business, but in return you will gain a skill-base in an area that is the foundation of business. Our alumni have accepted jobs at accounting firms, corporations, and in the government.

We encourage you to take advantage of the camaraderie available to you. Many students have said that they feel at home in the Leventhal School of Accounting when they walk into the Accounting Library and see a room full of friendly faces or stop to chat with a professor in the hallway. Join a student organization, get involved, be proactive, that way you will get to know your professors and advisors. Round out your campus experience by participating in workshops presented by our office, the Marshall Student Services office and the University Career Center for a look into the world of professional accountants.

“Accounting is the language of business, and you have to learn it like a language. To be successful at business, you have to understand the underlying financial values of the business.” —Warren Buffett
