What Made You Choose to Attend USC Marshall?

I chose USC Marshall because it had everything I was looking for. Being a high school senior who had no clue what I wanted to do was very scary. When applying as an Accounting Major to USC, I had no clue what I was getting into. After learning about all the amazing opportunities that both Marshall and Leventhal have to offer, I knew there was nowhere else I wanted to go. The opportunities to study abroad, the alumni network, and all the professors who were sincerely interested in my well-being were what sold me on USC Marshall.

Advice you wish you had known while applying to college:

When I was applying to college I wish I had known to follow my heart. I applied to way to many schools because people had told me I should. I knew I was never going to leave California, yet still applied to out of state schools. It would have made my life a little less stressful if I would have just listened to the little voice in my head.

USC activities/general hobbies:

On campus I am a USC Spirit Leader. I get to be on the field for all home football games and travel to away games. Not only do we cheer on our football team, but we also support our many other amazing sports teams, from Tennis to Sand Volleyball. I also work as a tutor with Student Athlete Academic Services. As a freshman I was a part of Marshall’s Global Leadership Program and traveled to both Shanghai and Beijing. I love to travel and hope to travel more through Marshall. My hobbies include cooking, working out, and hanging out with friends and family.

Why do you love Los Angeles?

I love Los Angeles because it is the perfect distance from home. Rancho Cucamonga is about 50 minutes East of Downtown. Its close enough to where I can go home for my sister’s birthday or my brothers championship game, but far enough to keep my dad from deciding to “just stop by”. Los Angeles has so much to offer and as I spend more time downtown, the more I never want to go home! I couldn’t have picked a better place to live.

Share a definitive freshman moment at USC:

One of my most rewarding freshman moments was hosting high school seniors through the Explore USC program. I had the opportunity to host students and talk to them about how awesome USC is and help them make one of the biggest decisions, which college to go to. A year before, I had been in their shoes, making that decision, and I wouldn’t have been able to make it without the help of my Explore USC host.

Favorite USC Marshall class:

My favorite Marshall class was my first accounting class, Financial Accounting, with Ruben Davila. He was a great professor and knew how to get the students involved with the lecture. His real life experience in the field enhanced what we were learning from the book and helped put meaning behind the concepts.
