What Made You Choose to Attend USC Marshall?
What you learn in Marshall carries you in the classroom and beyond. Each and every teacher is so experienced and passionate about what they’re teaching and truly are there to help you. The classes offered at both the Marshall and USC wide level allow students a well-rounded education, allowing us to dip our feet into many different areas to explore interests both within and outside of the major.
Advice you wish you had known while applying to college:
I had a lot of friends apply to tons and tons of schools that they knew they would never attend, thus here’s my advice: don’t apply to a school unless you absolutely know you would go there. Frankly, it’s not worth it to spend that much time (and money) on something you’re not even that passionate about. It’s quality over quantity, who cares if you apply to 3 or 13 schools, as long as you feel absolutely confident that you would attend the school you’re applying to, then the process is all worth it and you wont wind up in a situation you’re not totally content with. Also, don’t be afraid of the term “Spring Admit” or even of transferring. When I was admitted as a spring admit, of course I was upset, but excited because it still meant I got in. It doesn’t matter when you start at USC because in the end you’re going to graduate with a diploma that won’t have any indication that you transferred or even entered as a spring admit.
USC activities/general hobbies:
Marshall Career Advantage Program (CAP), Marshall Business Network, Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority
Why do you love Los Angeles?
Los Angeles is a mecca of everything you can ever want. Every inch of it is full of vibrant colors, exciting things to do, and amazing and interesting people. If you want to do something, as bizarre or outlandish as it may be, Los Angeles is the place to do it. As a result of this diversity, there are numerous career opportunities and ways to further expand your horizons and grow both intellectually and as a person. I’ve grown up in LA but yet there are so many new aspects I learn about it each and every day!
Share a definitive freshman moment at USC:
About two weeks into school Freshman year, I was walking down the steps from the bookstore with my new books in hand, the band was practicing, and it was the first moment I actually realized I went to USC and was no longer just a fan, but an actual student. I got the chills and just stood there in awe basking in the moment.
Favorite USC Marshall class:
class: BUAD 304, Leading Organizations. I loved how discussion based this class was! Both my discussion and lecture professor were so engaging and had an incredible amount of passion for the class. We discussed team building tactics, ways to improve communication and remove barriers, and much more. It was so applicable and really stuck! Additionally, we spent lots of time in the Experiential Learning Center (ELC) applying what we learned in class to simulations of real life situations.
