What Made You Choose to Attend USC Marshall?

Applying for colleges for me was hectic – I applied just about everywhere, and had no real “dream school” going into the application process. Once I came to visit USC for Explore, however, I fell in love with the constant sunshine and rustic brickwork, the indomitable school spirit that abounds here, and the student life at Marshall. I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do for a living after college, so USC’s comprehensive and all-encompassing business curriculum was a perfect fit (that Marshall was a top-15 business school was the cherry on top). By the time I got my admissions letter, my mind had been made up: I was going to be a Trojan, and I was going to study business.

Advice you wish you had known while applying to college:

Put in the extra work to research schools and apply to anywhere you might even consider attending – trust me, it will be worth it. By the time spring comes and you get your admission letters, it feels great to have options to choose from. Spend a few extra hours on college applications in the fall and you won’t regret it in the spring. Also remember: regardless of where you end up, you’ll love it! It’s college!

USC activities/general hobbies:

Cooking, Fitness, Watching sports (on TV and in person)

Why do you love Los Angeles?

1) Sunshine – My friends who attend schools in places where it rains every other day claim they don’t mind the dreariness, but I don’t buy it. You can’t beat year-round sunshine without the suffocating heat. 2) Entertainment industries – LA is the best place to break into the entertainment industry and the sports industry, two areas I’m interested in pursuing. 3) Beaches – I’m trying to learn how to surf!

Share a definitive freshman moment at USC:

My first night after moving in, my roommate and I decided to explore campus. We walked and chatted, and found out we got along really well. Before we knew it, it was 1am and we were on the opposite end of campus from our dorm. I still look at the campus with the same appreciation and excitement that I had that first night.

Favorite USC Marshall class:

BUAD 203 Business Communications – I am in the class right now, and we are learning practical career skills such as how to present, interview, and apply to jobs. Stacy Geck, the professor, makes the class truly engaging and entertaining.
