What made you choose to attend USC Marshall?
USC offers a college experience unrivaled by that of most universities. I chose USC because I was looking for a school that—in addition to great academics—boasted of a lively student body, an exciting athletic program, interdisciplinary studies programs, and resources that would help me develop professionally. There is also a strong spirit of ambition, loyalty and camaraderie among the students, alumni and faculty that sets USC apart from other schools. The Trojan Family is real, and I am incredibly proud to be part of it.
Advice you wish you had known while applying to college:
Visit the schools you’re considering attending, talk to current students, research the different programs offered, explore the campus, and check out the surrounding areas off campus. Beyond receiving a first-rate education, it’s also important to remember that you’re going to be spending four years here. The people, weather, lifestyle, study abroad programs and career opportunities are all things that really make a difference in your undergraduate experience.
USC activities/general hobbies:
Beta Alpha Psi (Professional Accounting Fraternity), Blackstonians Pre-Law Honor Society, USC Joint Educational Project, Global East Asia Scholar - Korea 2012, Marshall Global Leadership Program, Marshall Student Ambassadors, Trojan Scholars Society
Dancing, hiking, travelling, learning foreign languages
Why do you love Los Angeles?
My bucket list of things to do in Los Angeles is never-ending! From world-class food, to year- round sunny weather and beautiful beaches, to Lakers games, to music festivals -- there is always something exciting to do. In addition, Los Angeles has endless professional opportunities for students looking for networking, interning, or work experience in any field.
Share a definitive freshman moment at USC:
Waking up at 8AM on the first Game Day to the sound of hundreds of alumni and students tailgating outside my window on McCarthy (Freshman) Quad. Every inch of grass on campus was covered in Cardinal and Gold. Walking around the transformed campus and participating in the pre-game celebrations with my friends and people I had just met made me feel at home and truly a part of the Trojan Family.
I also had an incredible experience studying abroad with USC’s Global East Asia program over the summer. The program was covered by a generous stipend from the Freeman Foundation, which allowed us to immerse ourselves in the country and culture. We spent a month exploring Seoul and also travelled to different regions of the country, learning about Korean culture, eating delicious food and visiting popular tourist destinations and historical sites. My favorite class excursion by far was our visit to the De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) and Joint Security Area (JSA), where we stood less than a yard away from North Korean soldiers. The political tension at the border was surreal and the entire experience really put the North and South Korea conflict in perspective for me.
