4. USC Football
5. Career Advantage Program/Career Preparation
What Made You Choose to Attend USC Marshall?
Besides USC Marshall’s academic prestige, the biggest draw for me to attend USC Marshall was its incredible alumni base. Considering how important networking is with finding a job and moving up in the ranks in the business world, the Trojan Family’s presence is always felt and I’ve always felt at an advantage because of it.
Advice you wish you had known while applying to college:
I wish I knew how important it is to get involved on campus as soon as possible. Both for the leadership aspects and the social aspects, getting involved on campus as a freshman is very important in getting a fulfilling college experience.
USC activities/general hobbies:
I have a weekly music show on our student-run radio station, KXSC. I am also in a fraternity and I am a mentee in the Marshall Career Advantage Program. The Career Advantage Program is a year-long program that pairs students with professional mentors who help offer career guidance and prepare students for career success. I also just returned from a semester studying abroad this past Spring. It was definitely one of the most valuable experiences I have had in my life and I would suggest for all undergraduates to take the opportunity if they can.
Why do you love Los Angeles?
Besides the amazing weather, I love Los Angeles because of the opportunities it provides. Going to school in such a large city makes it easy for students to look for internships/jobs and gives students a wealth of options of how they want to spend their free time. Unlike attending college in a more “college-town” environment, USC students are only a short drive away from large businesses, a buzzing downtown scene and amazing Southern California beaches.
Share a definitive freshman moment at USC:
While I didn’t spend my freshman year at USC, my most definitive “welcoming” moment to USC was going to my first USC football game. The energy all over campus during gameday made me feel like I was really part of the school and all of its tradition. Once I was finally walking into the coliseum, I really felt like I was a Trojan.
Favorite USC Marshall class:
My favorite USC Marshall class was BUAD 302: Communication Strategy in Business because it taught me to feel comfortable speaking in front of groups in stressful situations and prepared me for the interview process. The course pushed me to break out of my comfort zone and objectively analyze my strengths and weaknesses. I learned a lot about myself through the course and learned about the careers that I would be most happy with."
