What Made You Choose to Attend USC Marshall?

During my senior year, I was looking for a school with a competitive undergraduate business program and a great overall atmosphere. USC was appealing because of its convenient proximity to the heart of Los Angeles. I loved how Marshall is so globally minded and actually encourages that its students have as many experiences abroad as possible. Our extensive alumni network was definitely also a huge selling point for me during my admissions process. Lastly, coming from the east coast, it didn’t hurt that the weather is beautiful year-round.

Advice you wish you had known while applying to college: Look beyond rankings because they really don’t matter that much (unless you’re into that kind of thing). You should choose where you go to school based off of your interests and the rest will definitely follow. It’s important to remember your college experience will be as fulfilling as you want it to be, regardless of where you go. Is size or location important to you at all? Do you want the opportunity to have personal attention from your professors? Will you be able to get all the classes you want? Does the university have clubs and organizations that are tailored to my interests? You should definitely do your research, but don’t limit yourself to what a number tells you. Also, amidst the stress, don’t forget to enjoy your senior year!

USC activities/general hobbies:

Outside of MSA, I hold a board position on Concerts Committee and am involved with our university’s Program Board. In addition, I’m a campus rep/ambassador for a lot of different brands and I also intern at the USC Department of Contracts and rants during the school year. Additionally, I participated in the LINC program (Learning About International Commerce) my freshman year and was able to travel to Sydney with an amazing group of professors and students. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to football games, trying different restaurants, and attending concerts.

Why do you love Los Angeles? There is never a reason to be bored when living in LA. There are always new things to do, places to see, and exciting people to meet. Did I mention that the weather is practically perfect all year round?

Share a definitive freshman moment at USC:

Walking through the McCarthy Quad and down Trousdale on the first game day of my freshman year was absolutely unreal (and it still is). I also remember stubbing my toe from my first “kick the pole” experience. Also, my freshman summer, I went on the LINC Sydney program and I cannot stress enough how awesome it was! I highly recommend going to any of the several locations that Marshall offers.

Favorite USC Marshall class:

My favorite USC Marshall class so far has been BUAD 311 (Operations Management) with Professor Paat Rusmevichientong. Operations Management by no means an “easy class,” but Paat really puts effort into making sure that every single one of his students understands the material. I also really liked how practical 311 is as a course because it teaches you to look at things with a slight engineering perspective like learning how to optimize processes and make things as efficient as possible. He also has a really great memory, so he’ll know your name, face, and fun facts about you by the second class
