What Made You Choose to Attend USC Marshall?

I chose to attend Marshall because I was immediately fascinated by the whole USC Trojan Family culture, because I was aware that as a person who is aspiring to enter the financial sector of business, these relationships are critical to learning and achieving. The Trojan Family, to me, is not just a formal title, but a bond that has a meaning and a common purpose: to help each other move forward toward their goals. Also, being from L.A., I have always aspired to become a Trojan and attend the best school in the city!

Advice you wish you had known while applying to college:

Go with your gut. People tend to overthink the college process, when in reality, it all comes down to what you want and if that school offers you that. Campus visits are critical to making that decision! There are so many programs that offer the opportunity to experience a campus for either a weekend or a just a day. Sign up for these and get a sense of the campus aura, then you’ll know which one fits best!

USC activities/general hobbies:

Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity; Marshall Student Ambassador; Career Advantage Program, Learning about International Commerce; Externship Program Why do you love Los Angeles? love Los Angeles because I was born and raised here! Being from L.A., I have a unique perspective on the city. I am constantly learning about the variety of opportunities and experiences that this place has offers, it’s just up to you to find them! I have found that the best method of exploring Los Angeles is to find a friend who has a car and influence them to drive to Santa Monica, Venice Beach, or Hollywood!

Share a definitive freshman moment at USC:

A definitive moment of my freshman year was my participation in the Learning about International Commerce program to Sydney, Australia. This program consisted of 54 other Marshall Students like myself, all getting on a plane straight to Sydney! While in Sydney, we were lectured by executives of companies such as Nestle Australia, Apple, and many more. At these meetings we would work in teams in different workshops so that we can learn more about what the firms do. After these meetings and lectures, we would all get together and go out at night in Sydney, checking out different restaurants and sites to see. My favorite part about Sydney was that I was able to build a close bond with the other students, who I am still in touch with today, and I know I will be for a lifetime.

Favorite USC Marshall class:

My favorite USC Marshall class was Marketing (BUAD 307) because it was a well-rounded course in that it tied together business and psychology. My professor offered unique perspectives on the subject, gave lessons on how to react to certain market stimuli (and how not to react) so that your company or product remains intact and continues to be successful. Ultimately, I learned that treating the customer right is an invaluable practice and should be administered at all levels of the firm!
