What Made You Choose to Attend USC Marshall?
Marshall’s program is very special in the sense that it is one of the few schools that offer direct admission into the business school. The curriculum is also very up-to-date in that it emphasizes globalization and other cultures, something which is becoming increasingly important in the business world. Also, USC is very unique in its location, being in the big city of LA, it offers a diverse range of extracurricular activities and fun that is available to students to enjoy outside of the classroom.
Advice you wish you had known while applying to college:
Rankings really don’t matter that much, you need to look at other factors to see if you will enjoy your college experience. Weather, the type of people who go to school, what kinds of activities there are at the school, are all factors that were very important to me. Different people will have different factors, and while academic ranking may seem to be important for the future, finding the right fit is also just as important.
USC activities/general hobbies:
I am part of the USC Badminton Club, and I volunteer at a (really good) café on campus called Good Karma! I also am a member of the Hong Kong Student Association and the Trojan Investing Society. I played Intramural Ultimate Frisbee last semester and I also like to play golf. One of my biggest hobbies is to explore new places and to try new food and restaurants!
Why do you love Los Angeles?
LA has so many things to do it is a city that you can never get bored in. There are always new places to go, new foods to try, new activities to do. There are so many different kinds of people in Los Angeles, it is always a new and exciting environment. From little Tokyo, to Koreatown, to Thai town, to Little Ethiopia, to the San Gabriel Valley, there is just so many things to experience it makes going to college in LA so much fun.
Share a definitive freshman moment at USC:
Football games for me were definitely a highly definitive moment at USC because it showed me what true school spirit is. It helped me see the Trojan family and how everyone was connected with a common belief. Even though you didn’t know the person standing next to you at the game, you’d always high 5 them when we scored a touchdown. That kind of connection is very rare and definitely something that left a major impression on me in my freshman year.
Favorite USC Marshall class:
My favorite Marshall class so far is Learning about International Commerce (LINC) Singapore. It is one of the reasons that I chose to come to Marshall because there are no other schools that offer opportunities like this, for freshman to learn about globalization and business in another culture and even offer a trip to travel to that foreign place to experience things firsthand.
