Why did you choose Marshall?
Having gone to USC as an undergrad, I was already aware of how strong the Trojan network is and that network is definitely the reason I decided to come back - there are Marshall alumni everywhere! I also love how passionate current students are about the program, when I visited Marshall last year, the enthusiasm and energy of the students validated that Marshall was the right fit for me. And, I can't lie, the weather in LA can't be beat.
What surprised you the most about Marshall?
The intensity of the course load during first semester was a little surprising, but I do feel that having a front loaded program gives Marshall students an advantage in the recruitment process over students from other schools. I was also surprised at how collaborative the Marshall community is, before starting school, I expected students to be more competitive within our classes but I have been amazed at how willing everyone is to help each other and I love that about my classmates!
Favorite USC Marshall Core Class:
Management Communications - learning these "soft" skills is essential and will help us get ahead not only in recruitment but in our future careers.
Favorite USC Marshall experience:
Orientation! I loved being back on campus and meeting the people I would be spending the next two years with. It was great to see how diverse everyone was in their backgrounds and experiences and orientation week is something I will never forget. A close second would be Marshall tailgates - there is no better way to spend game day.
What you wish you knew before attending business school?
I wish I was a little prepared for how intense the program is, I would definitely suggest taking time off to relax and travel between leaving work and starting school.
