As an undergraduate major in finance, I learned how to identify certain aspects on the financial statements and how to do models and forecasts. I always focus on the big picture in terms of business because I think seeing the whole picture gives you a better insight on how to make decisions. Accounting provided me with the other side of the picture by knowing how the financial statements come together. Knowing where the numbers come from is a valuable piece of information. USC Leventhal School of Accounting provided me with the best opportunity to master this aspect of the financial statement because they offered a summer intensive program to get you up to speed with the rest of the accounting undergraduate students. The summer intensive program was just an amazing experience with meeting so many different people and learning the area before school actually started.
