Keenan CRC Event Gives MBAs Direct Access to EmployersEvent Allowed Attendees to get a Sense of Wide Range OpportunitiesApril 2, 2010 • by News at Marshall
The Keenan MBA Career Center recently hosted its fifth annual "Just-in-Time" recruiting fair. Approximately 40 companies, including Fox Entertainment, Johnson & Johnson, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and Intel, were present to interview attendees for an estimated 100 positions. The event was open to Marshall alumni and current MBA students.
"This is one of many recruitment and networking events held locally as well as at locations worldwide to support Marshall students and alumni throughout the duration of their careers," said Assistant Dean Pete Giulioni. "Through events like these, we work to deepen our constituents' relationships with each other, ultimately supporting our graduates’ goals for meaningful and long-term employment."
In addition to providing access to employers, the event allowed attendees to get a sense of the wide range of opportunities available at well-known companies—perhaps discovering avenues and practice areas which they did not know existed. Director of Talent Sourcing at The Gallup Organization, Susan Shald, said, “People don't know Gallup as a consulting firm. This helps to educate about Gallup’s full range of capabilities." Shald also listed the qualities that she was looking for in a new hire:
Scott Turner, associate director, alumni career services, who helped organize the event and as part of his normal course of business provides support to alums looking for new opportunities, said his mission was two-fold, "to connect alumni to the best firms and simultaneously provide corporate recruiters the opportunity to connect to an extraordinary resource: Marshall graduates."
