University of Southern California

Application Process

Admission decisions are based on the applicant's work experience, academic background, test results, letters of recommendation and application essays. Applicants must have completed a minimum of six years of full-time work, military or graduate study prior to the start of the program.  Interested individuals are strongly encouraged to visit IBEAR classes and discuss the program with current participants and alumni.

Application Deadline

IBEAR employs a “rolling admission” system. We review application forms as soon as an application file is complete, beginning in November. In addition, visa applications take time and we urge non-U.S. residents to apply as early as possible. Thus, we recommend that you complete your application file before May 15. We understand that some of the best candidates may discover our 1-year International MBA program after May 15 and for this reason we continue to review new application files until we have a class of 54 students with academic and professional distinction.

USC International Student English (ISE) Exam

All international students are required to take the USC International Student English (ISE) exam on arrival, unless they submit a TOEFL result of 100 or more (IBT), 250 or more (CBT) or 600 or more (PBT), or unless they have earned a bachelor's degree from the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand.

Submitting a strong TOEFL test score allows the new international student to be waived from USC’s ISE requirement. Depending on test scores, including the ISE exam, IBEAR may recommend or require additional English work before and/or after the program begins.

Marshall Spotlight

Shanghai, China
Hui has always followed her passion for travel; when she packed her bags for a year of intensive study at Marshall, no one in her family was surprised. The cultural diversity from Marshall's IBEAR program was a comfortable fit for her, and she was excited by the opportunity to learn not only from her professors, but from her colleagues. The program took her background in finance and economics to a truly global level, and she now hopes to pursue new opportunities in China's emerging market for private wealth management.
