Distinguished Speaker Series

This event is led by a speaker who addresses new perspectives on topics at the forefront of the business world. The Distinguished Speaker Series features some of the most accomplished professionals in the investments industry and is open to everyone within the USC Marshall School of Business, in addition to alumni, friends and invited guests. February 17, 2006: Dr. Arthur Laffer
"California Economics, Finance and Businessa" was presented by Dr. Arthur Laffer, Founder and Chairman of Laffer Associates at the USC Marshall School of Business.

Dr. Arthur Laffer is the founder and chairman of Laffer Associates, an economic research and consulting firm that provides investment-research services to institutional asset managers.

 


April 1, 2005: Dr. Edward C. Prescott
Is the social security reform necessary? Dr. Edward Prescott, the 2004 Nobel Prize winner in Economics, came to present "Rebuilding the Social Security Retirement System" at the USC Marshall School of Business.

 


December 1, 2004: Stanley Gold
"Reflections on Corporate Governance" was presented by Mr. Stanley P. Gold, President and CEO of Shamrock Holdings, Inc., Chairman of the Board of Trustees, at the USC Marshall School of Business.

Stanley Gold serves as a leading activist for positive change in a period marked by corporate scandals as Enron and WorldCom. His experience comes from having served as a director of numerous public and privately held companies.

 


September 29, 2004: Dr. Ananth Madhavan
"When the Rubber Meets the Road: Unleashing the Power of Financial Theory to Improve Financial Practice" was presented by Dr. Ananth Madhavan, Global Head of Trading Research and Managing Director at Barclays Global Investors, Former Charles B. Thornton Professor of Finance at the USC Marshall School of Business.

USC Marshall School of Business

"The Future of the Mutual Fund Industry" was presented by Dr. Larry Harris, SEC Chief Economist, Fred V. Keenan Chair in Finance, at the USC Marshall School of Business .
